1. Standing Items
1.1 Additions to agenda: SDAB (Dawn Brush); Fallout Art and Music Event (Doris Stusiak)
1.2 Review and approve minutes from June and July 2016 meetings: Ardell Fiedler moved with Tom Wanttie
seconding to approve the minutes. Motion carried.
1.3 Review and approve Treasurer’s reports from June and July 2016: Current balance $824.85. This does
not include ADA bills or money raised. Approval of the report will be tabled until next month when those
items can be updated.
2. Committee Reports
2.1. BAD (Tabled until November 2016): Ardell Fielder asked if we feel we should purchase the stickers for
white cane awareness. It was decided not to at this time.
2.2. Partners in Community Pride: No report.
2.3. Transportation: The railing at the RideLine office has been completed.
2.4. Education Enhancement Award: There are 4 applicants at this time - all from NSU.
2.5. NDEAM: The event will take place on Tuesday, October 11, from 8 – 11 a.m. Tuesday. The business lead
group, Chamber and subcommittee decided on using a new location Bethlehem Lutheran ReCreation
Center. There will be a resource fair, and it was decided it would be good for the committee to have a
booth to show employers what the committee does and allow them to get information if interested in
joining. Dalita Meyer and Doris Stusiak both stated that they would help. The speaker for this event is a
runner. A guide is needed to run with him; he typically runs 3 to 5 miles. It was suggested to ask the
Mayor or someone from the Running Club. Contact Laura Stoltenburg if you know of anyone who might
wish to volunteer as guide.
2.6. ADA Anniversary Celebration: Something will be in the paper about the event sometime in the future.
3. Old Business
3.1. Brown County Fair Participation (Eric Vetter, Doris Stusiak): Dale Jones will perform at 11 a.m. and 2
p.m. on Sunday, August 21. Those committee members that will be participating should arrive at 10:30
a.m. and/or 1:30 p.m.
3.2. Gypsy Day/SDSBVI (Doris Stusiak, Ardell Fielder): It was decided that the committee will not participate
this year. We will look at doing it next year.
3.3. ADA Education and Reform Act of 2015 Update (Eric Vetter): This proposed law protects business
owners, but puts those that make the recommendations at risk of a fee due to letting the business know
they were at fault. Dawn Brush reported that there is a change going through with ADA; however, she
was not sure what it was exactly.

4.2 Request from SD Coalition of Citizens with Disabilities (Doris Stusiak): This group want 4 areas of the
state to help them create a group to discuss sexual assaults towards people with disabilities. Doris will find
out more and share.
4.3 Member Status Changes (Doris Stusiak): Marianne Dale, Craig Eschenbaum and Dawn LaMee have
moved to liaison status. We’ve not heard back from Ted Kneebone on his intentions.
4.4 SDAB: If anyone is interested in participating in the Walk for Fitness on September 16, please contact
Dawn Brush at dbrush@nvc.net. People are needed to pair up with someone as a guide.
4.5 Fallout Art and Music Event (Doris Stusiak): The Fallout Creative Community will host its annual Art and
Music event on Saturday, September 10, from 4 – 8 p.m. As in previous years, the Mayor’s Committee has
been asked if it wishes to participate with a disability awareness booth. Cindy Kirschman, Ardell Fiedler,
