Mayor’s Advisory Committee for People with Disabilities Minutes Meeting Date: Tuesday, October 17, 2017 Start Time: 12 p.m. End Time: 1 p.m. Location: City Hall 2nd Floor Conference Room Purpose: Regular scheduled meeting Attending: Krista Bau, Susan Hook, Cindy Krischman, Steve Kelsey, Dalita Meyer, Doris Stusiak, Tom Wanttie, Laura Stoltenburg, Eric Vetter Cody Roggatz, Tyler Goldade, Mende Jones, Andrea Overman Absent: Kristin Fastenau, Mendy Jones, Kristi Myhre, Becca Wells, Tyler Goldade 1. Standing Items 1.1 Any additions to agenda? There will need to be a replacement for Susan Hook since this will be her last meeting. 1.2 Review and approve minutes from September 2017 Meeting. Correct spelling of names: Sarah with an h and Andrea Overman. Krista made the motion to approve the minutes with corrections made, second Cindy. Motion carried 1.3 Review and approve Treasurer’s report from September 2017 Meeting: Nothing has changed from last month with the balance is the same. Current balance is $1,426.09. There has not been many expenses this year. Motion made by Cindy, second Krista. Motion carried. 1.4 Excused: Ardell Fiedler, Michael Gast, Sarah Dorich, Nancy Kelsey, Dawn Brush, and Ardell Fiedler 2. Committee Reports 2.1 BAD – tabled until January 2.2 Partners in Community Pride – There is a Better Block Grant which is an organization who comes in to make city blocks better through plants, art etc. This is something the Chamber will be doing. The holiday light challenge will be the week of December 5th. $300 award for food will be given to the business winner. 2.3 Transportation – Still looking for drivers. RideLine hired one driver. Would like to hire 3 more part-time drivers. Twice last week, all the buses were running. Rideline is getting busier. The airport has been approved by city council to submit a grant for reimbursement on the state and federal level. Passenger flight traffic has been up from last year. Will not have a 3rd flight during the hunting session this year. 2.4 Education Enhancement Award – And the winner is… Clara Pierskalla, who is currently in graduate school at USD, won the award. There were 4 applicants. 2.5 NDEAM – Event will be held tomorrow 1 to 4. Asking for people to setup. Please come and bring friends. Walmart will be given an award at this event recognizing them for hiring people with disabilities. Film “An Animated Life” will be shown with an open forum after the movie. 2.6 ADA Anniversary Celebration – tabled until February 3. Old Business 3.1 Gypsy Day Parade – Float Update – The float won the Mayor’s Choice Award 4. New Business 4.1 Vote on new members: Mike Gast- representing SDSBVI – Student Council and Andrea Overman -NSU Krista made the motion with Eric second. Motion carried 4.2 Vote on new member: Andrea Overman – NSU – vote combined with agenda item 4.1 4.3 There needs to be a replacement for Susan and Holly. Department of Labor will have a new rep. We need to update the list of committee members. Cindy will work on this. 4.4 Chamber dues: Is $334.50 which gives us a booth at the Non-Profit event in April and also in their directory. Discussed the pros and cons of paying these dues. {00031349.DOCX / 1} 5. Review Upcoming Dates – November 1st there is an event at the AmericInn for the 1st Annual “Let’s Talk Work”. This is a one-day conference designed specifically for students who have a disability and want to learn skills needed to find employment in the community 6.
