Mayor’s Advisory Committee for People with Disabilities Minutes Meeting Date: Tuesday, June 19, 2018 Start Time: 12 p.m. End Time: 1 p.m. Location: City Hall 2nd Floor Conference Room Purpose: Regular scheduled meeting Attending: Allison Daschle, Ardell Fiedler, Cindy Krischman, Dalita Meyer, Cody Roggatz, Laura Stoltenburg, Eric Vetter, Tom Wanttie, Steven Richmond, Lance Sigdestad; Nichole Nelson, Shelby DeHaai Absent: Krista Bau, Dawn Brush, Kristine Fastenau, Mendy Jones, Deb Kambel, Nancy Kelsey, Steve Kelsey, Kristi Myhre, Doris Stusiak, Becca Wells, Sandy Glover. 1. Standing Items 1.1 Any additions to agenda? Topics 2.7 through 2.9 were added 1.2 Review and approve minutes from May 2018 Meeting: Cindy made the motion to approve the May minutes with a second by Cody. Motion carried. 1.3 Review and approve Treasurer’s report from May Gave $100 donation to the Fallout Creative Committee. Becca made a motion and seconded by Ardell. Motion carried. 2. Committee Reports 2.1 BAD – Recap - Nothing to report. 2.2 Partners in Community Pride – Nothing to report. Laura handout out reminder slips that committee members can issue to people who have parking issues. 2.3 Transportation – Tom reported that Rideline is still looking for a couple more part time drivers. Working toward becoming certified in PASS training. Cody reported that the airport is working with 2 different firms to develop an airport master plan. This will be a 2 year process. Looking for committee and committee input. There will be public notices in the newspaper and Facebook to invite the public to these meetings. 2.4 Education Enhancement Award – tabled until June: Ardell reported that she needs a replacement to this committee since she is moving. Need to have someone selected for this committee by July. Discussed the possibility of moving this Award from $300 to $500. Also discussed the option of offering this to secondary and post-secondary student. 2.5 NDEAM - Laura reported the event will be October 10th at the Ramkota. This committee will be meeting again this Thursday. Looking for ideas on award categories. 2.6 ADA Anniversary Celebration – Eric reported that the event is July 27th at 5 p.m.is the event. Passed out a signup sheet. The event will be held the same as last year. Will have food and an obstacle course. Need volunteers and prizes Additional items: 2.7 NAMI News: National Alliance for Mental Issues. Received the Bush grant. Will be providing different activities throughout the committee based on wellness. Will also have a brainstorming event to look at further needed services. 2.8 Fill in for Treasurer: Laura will be out on Maternity leave for the next 3 meetings. Eric will cover the Treasurer duties. 3. Old Business 3.1 Does the City offer Interpreting services for our meetings? Laura reported that she did not obtain an answer from the City. Cost would be about $50 per hour. Eric will e-mail Lynn with the City to determine how this cost can be expensed out. Yearly cost would be $450 to $550. Discussed the city council meetings should be signed or closed caption. Lance stated they we could look at the possibility of a remote interrupter. Would like to see more of the deaf committee involved. 3.2 Completed all paper work to request funding from the City. 3.3 {00034447.DOCX / 1}  3.4 4. New Business 4.1 We have guests, Shelby DeHaai from SDSBVI and Nicole Nelson is a transitional specialist from DSBVI. Would like to be a member of the committee. Mike Gast will be the regular student member. 4.2 SDSBVI will not be having a float this year since they are having a float alternating years. 4.3 4.4 5. Review Upcoming Dates – NAMI Family Support Group – 2nd Monday of month, 6:30-7:30, Fireside Room, Bethlehem Lutheran Church NAMI Aberdeen Affiliate Meeting – 3rd Monday of month, 5:30 – 7:00, Location TBA NAMI Connections Peer Support Group – 1st & 3rd Wednesday of each month, 6:00-7:00, ARCC NAMI Night – 3rd Thursday of month, 5:30 -8:30, Red Rooster Coffee House 6.
