Mayor’s Advisory Committee for People with Disabilities Agenda Meeting Date: Tuesday, July 17, 2018 Start Time: 12 p.m. End Time: 1 p.m. Location: City Hall 2nd Floor Conference Room Purpose: Regular scheduled meeting Attend members – Tyler Goldade, Eric Vetter, Doris Stusiak, Krista Bau, Dalita Meyer Guests: Steven Richmond and Tina Kensen. Not enough members for quorum. 1. Standing Items 1.1 Any additions to agenda? Grants, curling 1.2 Review and approve minutes from June 2018 Meeting: will approve in the August meeting 1.3 Review and approve Treasurer’s report from June 2018 Meeting: Will review in August meeting. 1.4 Excused absence: Tom Wanttie, Cody Roggatz, Dawn Brush, Cindy Kirschman, Laura Stoltenburg, Becca Wells, Lance Sigdestad 2. Committee Reports 2.1 BAD – Tabled 2.2 Partners in Community Pride – No new information 2.3 Transportation - 2.4 Education Enhancement Award – 2 of the 3 people have stepped down. Dalita will join. Dalita will send out an email to find another member. Cindy is the other member. 2.5 NDEAM - planning is going smooth and they have a speaker 2.6 ADA Anniversary Celebration – July 27 – Eric presented that the posters are made. Need e-mail vote for: paying for the posters which is $43.35 to QQP Will have Tom send out an e-mail to receive a motion to approve. Will also need a motion to pay to pay for food etc for the celebration. Looking for approval for $250 to cover expenses. Eric will put an e-mail together to give to Tom who will send out to all committee members for voter approval. The museum will bring an old wheel chair and information, Tylor and Eric will bring different wheelchairs also. Still need door prizes. Setup at 4. 3. Old Business 3.1 Sign Language Interpreter – we will be paying for this service out of our budget, an adjustment will be .made, if necessary. City will increase our budget to accommodate this expense. 3.2 Vote on new members to the committee: Lance Sigdestad, Shelby DeHaai and Nicole Nelson. 4. New Business 4.1 NAMI – Mental Health Listening Post – July 25 11:30 – 1:00 Aberdeen Public Library 4.2 AAHRA is looking for a presentation topic for July 19 meeting – any takers? 4.3 Curling: Doris reported that a representative from the area curling group. They are looking a Learn to Curl session and include people with disabilities to attend the session 4.4 A citizen brought the issue to the group’s attention that many doors in the Aberdeen area are very heavy. Doris has been looking into options for grants to address this issue. Discussed options regarding community projects. Also discussed the option of a relay type run. 5.
