CITY OF ALBANY COMMISSION ON HUMAN RIGHTS Meeting Minutes December 16, 2021 Opening: The December 16, 2021, meeting was called to order at 6:08 PM EST, via Zoom, by Chairperson Aaron Moore. Present: Chairperson Aaron Moore; Vice Chairperson Rosie Love; Secretary Thomas Richards, Esq. Commissioner Natisha Alexander Commissioner Valerie Alexander-Moseley; Commissioner Celia Evers; Commissioner Kate Shelly, Esq. Phil Suruda (City of Albany) Tolani Elumade (City of Albany) Absent: Quorum: Yes Approval of Prior Meeting Minutes: Yes. Business from the Prior Meeting: Chairperson Moore and Commissioner Shelly informed the Commission that additional information and planning on the Annual Awards Ceremony would be shared after the new year. Equity Agenda update. Vice-Chairperson Love advised the draft Equity Agenda Report was in the final stages of compilation and would soon be submitted to the Common Council, either before or shortly after the New Year. Vice Chairperson Love called on commissioners to volunteer to serve as co-chair of the Community Education Committee with Secretary Richards. New Business: The annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Memorial March is currently scheduled for Monday, January 17, 2022. The Chairperson and Vice Chairperson encouraged all commissioners to attend the event. 1 Tolani Elumade, City of Albany Human Resources Director, noted that she would serve as interim liaison to the Commission until a new Chief Diversity Office was hired, and advised that no public comments were submitted for the meeting.
