The following recommendations were made for consideration- • Paint the steps and porch skirting grey to reference the historic masonry foundation; • Paint railings black; and • The proposed porch shingles should be a different color than then existing roof shingle on the historic structure. The proposed paint color must be submitted to Planning Staff. ACTION: Approved with Conditions Motion: Pinckney- to Approve with recommendations Second: Hacker Vote: 6-0 PROJECT # 00373 Application(s) COA # 0695 Property Address 33 Garden Alley Owner Keith Lavit & Michael Zitolo Historic District Center Square/North Pearl Street/Clinton Square After discussing the proposal to replace the existing non-original windows with aluminum clad windows and reduce the size of two openings, the Commission voted to approve the proposal with the condition that windows A and B must be equal sashes and not match window C’s meeting rails. ACTION: Approved with Conditions 200 HENRY JOHNSON BOULEVARD | ALBANY, NEW YORK 12210 | (518) 465-6066 Historic Resources Commission Disposition of Cases September 16, 2020 Motion: Tobin- to Approve with Conditions Second: Pinckney Vote: 6-0 Property Address 45 Columbia Street Owner Albany Center Gallery Historic District Downtown Albany After discussing the concept proposal to paint a mural on the stuccoed side, west wall, the Commission made the following recommendations- • Reach out to the Artist to provide information on the background color; • Provide the paint and clear coat information; • Verify that the proposed paint and clear coat can be used on the existing historic material, are breathable and will not cause damage; and • Verify that the existing condition and stability of the existing stucco. Property Address 39 Columbia Street Owner Albany Center Gallery Historic District Downtown Albany After discussing the concept proposal to paint a mural on the side, east wall, the Commission made the following recommendations- Provide renderings of proposed mural once developed. Property Address 201 North Pearl Street Owner Albany Center Gallery Historic District Clinton Avenue/North Pearl Street/Clinton Square After discussing the concept proposal to paint a mural on the unpainted brick side, south wall, the Commission made the following recommendations- • A large portion of the brick should be left unpainted; • Retain the ghost mark of the previous neighboring structure; • Clean and prepare the side wall down to the brick; • Provide information on the condition of brick wall and proposed renderings; and • Proposal should have the neighborhood’s input.
