SHEEHAN NE W YOR K DIRECTOR: BRADLEY GLASS DEPARTMENT OF PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT CONTACT: Erin Glennon Historic Resources Commission hrc@albanyny.gov Historic Resources Commission Public Workshop Date: Thursday, April 7, 2022 Location: Zoom Teleconference and Videoconference Time: 6:00 PM Present: Members: Geraghty, Hacker, Kaplan, McEneny, Myers, Planning Staff: Glennon DISPOSITION OF CASES PROJECT # 0078 Application(s) COA 0713 Property Address 199 Lark Street Owner 199 Lark, LLC Historic District Center Square/Hudson Park After discussing the request to carry out a full exterior renovation on a vacant structure and construct a rear one- story addition, the Commission made the following recommendations-  Enlarge the trim over the top of the proposed windows on the second and third floors to indicate a lintel, similar to the building located at 197 Lark Street;  Provide a more projected sill at the proposed windows to provide more dimension. The sill should project at least one inch;  Provide siding details and specifications indicating the proposed reveal;  The building should feature corner boards at the southeast and northeast corners;  The Commission has concerns about the lack of proposed traditional material such as wood lap siding and lack of proposed details that recreate what was historically at this building. The lack of details may not meet the Historic Resources-Overlay review standards;  The applicant should look at the details on surrounding wood framed buildings, such as cornices, window sills and lintels, window frames, and storefronts in order to have a better understanding of typical traditional features. The applicant should also not the type of material, thickness and reveal of the historic details;  The applicant should consider a Pre-primed cedar siding for the replacement of the non-original aluminum siding  Any damaged historic material should be replaced in-kind on the cornice; and  The applicant should verify that the elevation drawings are correctly scaled. 200 HENRY JOHNSON BOULEVARD | ALBANY, NEW YORK 12210 | (518) 465-6066
