POLICE, FIRE AND LICENSE COMMITTEE February 27, 2024 The regular meeting of the Police, Fire and License Committee was called to order by Chairperson Bert Hefty at 6:30 p.m. in the Albany Village Hall, 206 North Water Street, Albany, WI. Members present were: Hefty, Fred Johnson, Denny Atkinson, Fire Chief Danny Mueller and Police Chief Robert Ritter. Absent: Michelle Monson, Deanna Hubert and Doug Lawrence. Also present: Kim Blumer, Brian Hauri and Brandon Williams. Proof of posting was verified. MINUTES: Motion by Johnson, seconded by Atkinson, to approve the minutes of the previous meeting. Carried. PUBLIC APPEARANCES: None. FIRE CHIEF CONCERNS: Chief Mueller reported that the department will have swift water training the first weekend of May and would like to dam boards left off until after that training. POLICE CHIEF CONCERNS: Chief Ritter reported that the new police officer passed Phase 1 of the Police Academy. FIRE INSEPCTION INSPECTIONS: Chief Mueller reported that 55 fire inspections have been completed since January 1, 2024; failed 2023 state inspection due to lack of fire inspections. Chief, Assistant Chief and Brian Hauri are all able to perform fire inspections; Hauri since 2001. Motion by Atkinson, seconded by Hefty, to take the proposed fire inspection ordinance to the March board meeting. Carried. FIRE CHIEF POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Chief Mueller reported this is posted on the Village website under ordinances. OPERATOR’S LICENSES: Motion by Hefty, seconded by Johnson, to approve operator’s license for Mackenzie Vanthournout. Carried. ANNOUNCEMENT AND FUTURE ITEMS: The dam boards and fire inspection ordinance to the March board meeting. TRAINING: None. ADJOURN: Motion by Atkinson, seconded by Johnson, to adjourn. Carried.
