POLICE, FIRE AND LICENSE COMMITTEE March 19, 2024 The regular meeting of the Police, Fire and License Committee was called to order by Chairperson Bert Hefty at 6:30 p.m. in the Albany Village Hall, 206 North Water Street, Albany, WI. Members present were: Hefty, Fred Johnson, Michelle Monson, Deanna Hubert, Denny Atkinson, Fire Chief Danny Mueller and Police Chief Robert Ritter. Absent: Doug Lawrence. Also present: Kim Blumer, Brian Hauri and Brandon Williams. Proof of posting was verified. MINUTES: Motion by Monson, seconded by Johnson, to approve the minutes of the previous meeting. Carried. PUBLIC APPEARANCES: None. POLICE CHIEF CONCERNS: Chief Ritter reported that one officer is currently attending the police academy and the other officer will start the academy on August 5, 2024 and he will work in the office until the academy starts. FIRE DEPARTMENT INSPECTIONS – VIOLATION FEES: Tabled until next month when the Fire Chief can bring proposed fee information. FIRE DEPARTMENT INSPECTIONS – ORDINANCE 01-24: Motion by Monson, seconded by Johnson, to approve Ordinance 01-24 to reduce fire inspections from two per year to one per year. Carried. FIRE CHIEF POSITION TRAINING/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Tabled until next month, need more information. FIRE DEPARTMENT MEMBERS AND TRAININGS/CERTIFICATIONS: Fire Chief presented documentation. FIRE OFFICERS – CHIEF/FIRST & SECOND ASSISTANT CHIEFS: Tabled. FIRE DEPARTMENT BYLAWS: Need further review. OPERATOR’S LICENSES: None. TRAINING: None. ANNOUNCEMENT AND FUTURE ITEMS: Bylaws for Fire Chief Qualifications; Bylaws dated August 12, 2020 approval by Village Board; Assistant Chief Position; inspection violation fees.
