POLICE, FIRE AND LICENSE COMMITTEE January 28, 2025 The regular meeting of the Police, Fire and License Committee was called to order by Chairperson Fred Johnson at 6:30 p.m. in the Albany Village Hall, 206 North Water Street, Albany, WI. Members present were: Johnson, Michelle Monson, Tonya Stephan, Deanna Hubert, Dennis Atkinson, Albany Township Rep Scott Roth, Fire Chief Brian Hauri and Police Chief Robert Ritter. Also present: Able Schultz, Albany Township, Luke Eastwood, Mark Reidel, Kim Blumer, Ray Thurow, Sterling Evert, Clay Spooner, Kathy Pennington, Brooklyn Township, Brooke Helley and Brandon Williams. Proof of posting was verified. MINUTES: Motion by Monson, seconded by Hubert, to approve the minutes of the previous meeting. All ayes. Motion carried. PUBLIC APPEARANCES: None. FIRE CHIEF UPDATE: Chief Hauri stated that there are currently 23 members of the Albany Fire Department of which 9 are EMR certified. The 2% dues state audit date is scheduled to be completed on February 3, 2025. The department is starting to review the fire department ordinances every six months. Hauri also explained that the department has two new officers, Evert Sterling and Mark Reidel that will be sworn in at the February Village Board meeting. FIRE DEPARTEMENT STRATEGIC PLANNING: The strategic planning contract will go to the February Village Board meeting for approval. POLICE CHIEF UPDATE: Chief Ritter stated that the department is scheduled to receive the new squad on January 29, 2025 and that the interviews for a new police officer is scheduled for February 5, 2025. OPERATOR’S LICENSES: Motion by Monson, seconded by Stephan, to approve operator’s licenses for Stephanie Gutowski contingent on payment from Dollar General. All ayes. Motion carried. TRAINING: The Albany Police Department, EMS, and Fire Department will participate in active shooter training at the school on January 30, 2025. ANNOUNCEMENT AND FUTURE ITEMS: Bring the strategic planning contract back to the February committee meeting; Fire Department financial audit information.
