STREET AND UTILITY COMMITTEE August 7th, 2023 The regular meeting of the Street and Utility Committee was called to order at 6:30 p.m. in the Albany Village Hall by Chairperson Larry Nipple. Members present were: Nipple, Kim Blumer, Eileen Althaus, and Roald Henderson. Absent: Jim Mauerman. Also present: Lonnie Gill, Ex-Officio, and Tim Astfalk of Mead & Hunt. Proof of posting was verified. MINUTES: Motion by Blumer, seconded by Henderson, to approve the previous minutes as printed. Carried. SEWER MAIN AND MANHOLE UPDATE: Astfalk presented the project of manhole and sewer main repairs. This project would most likely take place in late 2024 or early 2025. Over 5000 feet of sewer mains will need to be relined, and over 80 manholes will need work. This project is expected to cost approximately $350,000. After much discussion a motion was made to have Mead and Hunt resubmit an “Intent to Apply” application to the DNR to start the process. After the application of “Intent” and DNR approval, the Village will start the actual planning of this project. Motion by Blumer, seconded by Althaus, to have application resubmitted. Carried. REPAIR AND RIPRAP AT OGDEN AVE RETENTION POND: Gill explained that the bank is eroding in a few places around the pond and would like to repair and place large riprap stones to prevent erosion. Cost would be less than $1000.00. Motion by Blumer, seconded by Althaus, for permission to repair. Carried. BIDS TO REPLACE 2009 FORD F450: Gill stated dealers will be starting to bid new trucks in late August and early September. He will compile specs on new truck and bring to September meeting. CROSSWALK SIGN UPDATE: Signs are in place and working. Reviews are all positive. REPLACEMENT OF NOAA STATION UPDATE: Nothing to report at this time. CURB AND PARKING AREA PAINTING UPDATE: Public works crew will continue to mark curbs where no parking spots are. 2023 ROADWORK UPDATE: Village streets have been seal coated and are waiting for county to black top the remaining streets hopefully before school starts. The remaining streets include School, Main, Burt, Ruebens Cave, and Rhyner. TRAINING: None at this time. ANNOUNCEMENTS AND FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS: Motion by Nipple, seconded by Blumer, to move September Streets meeting to Wednesday September 6th, 2023 due to Labor Day Holiday. Carried.
