STREET AND UTILITY
September 4, 2024
The regular meeting of the Street and Utility Committee was called to order immediately after the
public hearing at 6:30 p.m. in the Albany Village Hall by Chairperson Bert Hefty. Members present
were: Hefty, Kim Blumer, Fred Johnson and Jim Mauerman. Also present: Lonnie Gill, Ex-Officio
and Andrew Skog of Mead & Hunt.
Proof of posting was verified.
MINUTES: Motion by Mauerman, seconded by Blumer, to approve the previous minutes as
printed. Carried.
SEWER LINE AND MANHOLES UPDATE: Skog reported that the plan as been submitted to DNR
for manhole cover repairs.
GENERATOR COST AND OPTIONS: Gill presented an option for three separate generators and
wiring, one for Village Hall, one for EMS and one for the Fire Department at a cost of $11,905 each
with a three-year warranty. The three generators would all be wired separately and automatically
start in the event of a blackout emergency. Gill will provide EMS and Fire Department the estimates
for each of their generator. Motion by Blumer, seconded by Mauerman, to approve the purchase
of the Village Hall generator and wiring at a cost of $11,905 using ARPA funds. Carried.
STORM SEWER CHARGES: Gill suggested that the Village consider creating a storm sewer fund;
with charges being added to the monthly utility bill. Gill has done some research on surrounding
municipalities that are currently doing this and will get more information if we proceed. Motion by
Blumer, seconded by Johnson, to send this to the village board for more discussion. Carried.
NORTH CINCINNATI STREET DRAINAGE: Gill and Hauri still need to work together on getting
this completed. The culvert that was purchased and not used for South Cincinnati Street has been
returned.
TRAINING: Nothing.
ANNOUNCEMENTS AND FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS: Gill mentioned there are some sidewalks
that are in rough shape and need repair and/or replacement; the committee would also like to
investigate the sidewalks that need cleaning up.
ADJOURNMENT: Motion by Mauerman, seconded by Johnson, to adjourn. Carried.
