Board of Trustees Minutes May 24, 2021 Meeting called to order at 7:30 p.m. MEMBERS PRESENT: Deputy Mayor Kevin Smith, Trustee Whalen, Trustee O’Neill, Trustee Brooks ALSO PRESENT: Village Attorney Bruce Kennedy AFD Chief Rob Waegerle APD Chief Bryan Burton Superintendent Bruce Hopper Clerk/Treasurer Catherine Murdock Assistant to the Mayor Wendy O’Neill Deputy Mayor Smith welcomed everyone to the Board of Trustees meeting and announced that Mayor Siry sends his regrets that he is unable to attend due to a family event. He invited Chief Bryan Burton to conduct the Pledge of Allegiance. Good News: Deputy Mayor Smith provided information on upcoming events and encouraged residents to check organizations’ websites and Facebook pages for information. Events included: Rotary Gift of Life Dinner on June 17th, Memorial Day ceremony at the Village triangle on May 31st at 10 a.m., Kiwanis Pitch & Putt on June 18th, Beach opening on June 26th (beach passes will be available by the week prior); Swim and Sailing sign ups begin on June 23rd. The Village is still looking for a crash boat operator and any interested parties should contact the Village. The Warrior Ride, a bike race for veterans, will come through Amityville again with a 9 a.m. start at Town Hall in Lindenhurst. Two live performances are scheduled for the Amityville Beach: Romeo and Juliet on July 18th at 5 p.m. and on Radio Flashback will perform live music on July 24th. Tax bills for the 2021/2022 tax year will be mailed out soon. Check Amityville.com for more information. Payments will be spread over two years. The Trustees referenced discussion items from the meeting’s Work Session, including completion of a Film Permit Application, payment of fees to the Village, minimizing traffic and disruptions, and showing respect for residents’ privacy. Village Attorney Bruce Kennedy clarified issues and advised that boat sales and parking is a permitted use for the long-time marina.
