Meeting called to order at 7:30 p.m.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Dennis Siry, Deputy Mayor Smith, Trustee Whalen, Trustee O’Neill,
Trustee Brooks

Mayor Siry welcomed everyone to the meeting and invited Chief Burton to conduct the Pledge of
Allegiance. He invited Deputy Mayor Smith to share any good news.
Deputy Mayor Smith noted that the 2022 Mayor’s Social will be held on March 6th at Unqua Corinthian
Yacht Club. He also reminded residents to submit entries for the Distinguished Resident Award by
February 1st. Other upcoming events: Bay Village Civic Association annual Brunch, April 24th; and
Masonic Lodge Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser Feb. 20th.
Mayor Siry also reminded residents of the upcoming Public Hearing on for Introductory Local Law No. 1
on February 14th, establishing stop intersections at Park Ave. and Cedar St. and at S. Bayview Ave. at
Griffing Ave.
The Mayor asked everyone to keep in their thoughts the NYC and Chicago police officers shot and killed
recently as well as the firemen who died fighting a blaze in Baltimore.

RESOLUTION 22-01-24-02 Abolishing Separate Board of Assessment Review
Whereas the Board of Trustees of the Village of Amityville adopted Resolution No 16-03-28-01 on March
28, 2016, establishing a separate Board of Assessment Review to hear and decide complaints regarding
assessments for Village tax purposes as authorized by the Real Property Tax Law, and
Whereas said Board of Assessment Review was thereafter established and members of such Board were
appointed by the Board of Trustees, and
Whereas said Board heard and decided such complaints in subsequent tax years through and including
tax year 21/22, and
Whereas the Board of Trustees is authorized to act as the Board of Review pursuant to §1408 of the Real
Property Tax Law instead of a separate Board of Assessment Review, and
Whereas the Board of Trustees has determined that its members are capable and willing to perform the
function of the Board of Review without additional compensation, and that therefore a separate Board
of Assessment Review is no longer necessary
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS:
1) The Board of Assessment Review established by Resolution No 16-03-28-01 is hereby abolished,
and the members of said Board of Assessment Review are hereby terminated as members of
such Board
2) The members of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Amityville shall serve as the Board of
Review pursuant to §1408 of the Real Property Tax Law with all powers and duties related
thereto without compensation

Whereas the Building Inspector of the Village of Amityville has notified the Board of Trustees that there
is probable cause that the building at 292 Merrick Rd., Amityville, NY is unsafe and should be
demolished as a result of an extensive fire at said premises, and
Whereas the Building Inspector has asked for a property condition report be made by a professional
engineer before a formal recommendation is made to declare such building unsafe and institute
proceedings to demolish same pursuant to Chapter 51 of the Village Code,
And whereas, the Board of Trustees has received a proposal from Nelson & Pope to perform said report
for a fee of $3,500
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLLOWS:
1) N & P Engineering, Architecture and Land Surveying, PLLC, 70 Maxess Road, Melville, NY 11747
be, and hereby is retained to perform a Property Condition Report for premises 292 Merrick Rd.,
Amityville, NY for a fee not to exceed $3,500
2) This Resolution shall be effective immediately.

RESOLUTION 22-01-24-04 authorizing Agreement with Babylon Central Fire Alarm
Whereas the Village of Amityville needs dispatching services for fire alarm and emergency rescue calls
within the Village, and
Whereas said dispatching services are currently being provided by the Amityville Police Department and
the Amityville Fire Department, and the expense associated therewith is paid as part of the budget of
the Village of Amityville, and
Whereas the Amityville Fire Department is having difficulty providing adequate staffing for its
dispatching services, and
Whereas the Town of Babylon has contracted with Babylon Central Fire Alarm and Rescue Alarm Corp.
to provide such dispatching services throughout the Town, including within the Village of Amityville, the
cost thereof to be paid as a charge on the Town tax bills of the taxpayers of the Town of Babylon, and
thus without additional cost to the residents of Amityville, as part of the Village Tax bill, and
Whereas an Agreement has been prepared between Babylon Central and the Village to provide said
dispatching services,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS:
1) The Mayor of the Village of Amityville be, and he hereby is authorized to execute the Agreement
with Babylon Central Fire Alarm and Rescue Alarm Corp. to provide dispatching services for fire
and emergency rescue calls from residents within the Village, in the form attached hereto
2) This Resolution shall be effective immediately
