Board of Trustees Minutes February 14, 2022 Meeting called to order at 7:30 p.m. MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Dennis Siry, Deputy Mayor Smith, Trustee Whalen, Trustee O’Neill, Trustee Brooks ALSO PRESENT: Chief Bryan Burton AFD Chief Rob Waegerle DPW Superintendent Bruce Hopper Clerk/Treasurer Catherine Murdock Assistant to the Mayor Wendy O’Neill Village Attorney Bruce Kennedy Mayor Siry welcomed everyone to the meeting and invited Chief Burton to conduct the Pledge of Allegiance. Deputy Mayor Smith reported on upcoming news and shared that the 2022 Mayor’s Social will be held on March 6th at Unqua Corinthian Yacht Club; the Masonic Lodge will host a spaghetti dinner fundraiser on Feb. 20th, and there will be a Blood Drive at St. Martin of Tours on Feb. 23rd. Information is available on the Village website. Mayor Siry then called for Committee Reports to be read by the Trustees for the month of January 2022. DPW (Trustee O’Neill): January 2022 Report: • 2021 Yearly totals of Waste Disposal included: C&D 290.11 Tons; Mixed Municipal Solid Waste 95.52 Tons; Yard Waste 132.44 Tons; Tires 1.10 Tons; Logs 35.62 Tons; Electronic Waste 2.50 Tons; Scrap Metal (recyclable) 36.78 Tons Auto Hulks 38.21 Tons. Grand Combined Total Accumulated Waste 632.28 Tons • Disposed and Carted Municipal waste 3.56 tons, Non-Quarantine yard waste 5.21 tons, Logs Branches 7.18 tons. • Restrung the halyard at the Triangle flagpole. • Continue to clean around Avon Lake and returned the refurbished park benches • Working on redoing the handicap parking Bollards in parking lot #3 due to MVA damage. • Working on replacing the trash can at the Delano Preserve (Union Ave.) and making a new park trash receptacle for the Graziano F.D./P.D. Park (W. Oak St.). • Refurbished the highway sign in front of 80 Sterling Pl. • Working on replacing the 4-foot stockade fence on the south property line of the Nautical Park and replaced the plywood coverings on the rear building at 18 Ocean Ave. • Preparing for the impending Nor’easter 01/28/2022 01/29/2022, tried to procure temporary laborers to clear sidewalks @ $20.00 per hour. One candidate came in and worked. The department is now continuing to clear snow of a 20-inch snowfall with 36-inch drifts. • Reconditioning a cement Park bench for parking lot #6 and the bus stop on Merrick and Bennett Pl. Building Department (Trustee Whalen): January Report: Revenue of $13,194.00; 17 inspections performed, 0 notices of violations issued and 0 violations corrected. There were 14 permits issued, 24 permits closed, 28 CO searches, 12 fire safety inspections and 1 fire marshal response to callouts. Amityville Fire Department (Trustee Whalen) January Report: Full report not available due to transition to Babylon Central software. The Department has been very busy, responding to Village calls and covering for North Amityville F.D. 1  Board of Trustees Minutes February 14, 2022 Village Justice Court (Trustee Brooks) December 2021 Report: Revenues reported to the State, $27,917.00 including $16,052.00 Village Justice; $3,790.00, Assoc. Village Justice; $8,075.00, Parking Violations Bureau. Penal/Criminal, Vehicle & Traffic and Village Ordinances: 147 charges processed; 134 charges closed; $19,842.00 collected in fines/surcharges. Parking: 65 tickets were process; 68 collected on; and $8,075.00 collected in fines. January Report: Revenues reported to the State $22,009.00 including $9,578.00 Village Justice; $4,256.00, Assoc. Village Justice; $8,175.00 Parking Violations Bureau. Penal/Criminal, Vehicle & Traffic and Village Ordinances: 215 charges processed; 131 charges closed; and $13,834.00 collected in fines/surcharges. Parking: 114 tickets processed, 72 tickets collected on, and $8,175.00 collected in fines. Amityville Police Department (Deputy Mayor Smith) January Report: 16 Arrests, 546 Blotters, 54 Cases, 213 Citations, 1 Field Interview, 93 Medical Aided and 30 Traffic Accidents. AND WHEREAS, no action has been commenced to recover said unpaid taxes and no sale on account of said unpaid taxes has been held pursuant to law.
