Meeting called to order at 7:30 p.m.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Dennis Siry, Deputy Mayor Smith, Trustee O’Neill, Trustee Brooks

Mayor Siry welcomed everyone to the meeting and invited Chief Burton to conduct the Pledge of
Allegiance. He called for a moment of silence for those affected by the ongoing war in Ukraine.
Mayor Siry then invited Deputy Mayor Smith to share any good news.
Deputy Mayor Smith noted that St. Martin’s School will hold its annual Fashion Show fundraiser on
April 7th and is celebrating its 100th year in education. The Little League Parade will be on April 23rd at
10:30 a.m. starting at Park Ave School; Bay Village Civic Association will hold its 15th year anniversary
brunch on April 24th at Unqua Corinthian Yacht Club, honoring Tom Howard, and will also have a
Shredder Event on April 16th at 9/11 Memorial Park. Mayor Siry reported that the Amityville Memorial
High School Alumni Sports Parade will not be taking place as previously announced, however, the
basketball game will take place at 1 p.m. at the High School.
Mayor Siry also announced that the DRI grant Committee information is on the website,
AmityvilleDRI.com and shared tentative dates for the Community Meetings and Local Planning
Committee (LPC) meetings, which are open to the public. He added that the first Community Meeting for
the DRI takes place on March 22nd at 7 p.m. Please tell your friends/neighbors and voice your opinion of
what you would like to see in the Village.

Joan Donnison, 150 S. Ketcham Ave., Amityville, spoke on behalf of the Bay Village Civic Association
with concerns about non-compliant exterior signs promoting brunch and operation of a private club as
open to the public. She also questioned if the Club had any violations with the Building Department, to
which Building Inspector Michael Breitweg stated he knew of no violations.

The applicant stated that the trailers include one that holds holiday decorations for charitable endeavors
and a 45-foot RV. He stated that he previously had permits for his trailers (which have lapsed). He
reported an ongoing conflict with his neighbor, and concerns for his family’s privacy and safety. The
Trustees encouraged him to call the Police Department with safety concerns. They encouraged the
continued use of shrubs as barriers and suggested relocating one of the trailers off the property.

Public Comments
Joan Donnison, Bay Village Civic Association, inquired about the anticipated completion date of the old
Chase Bank and movie theater properties as well as the parking committee plans. Mayor Siry responded
that occupancy should take place by the end of the year, perhaps July for the movie theater, and that the
parking plans are a work in progress.
