PUBLIC COMMENTS
Joan Donnison, Bay Village Civic Association, asked if something could be done about dark
windows/storefronts, citing a new church as an example of entire windows being blacked out.
The Board brought up a few brief items, which included: the establishment of business permits for
commercial spaces, repaving on and around S. Bayview Ave. where National Grid left roadways in
terrible shape, and instituting permits for Downtown Resident Parking. They shared that the VFW will
be rededicating the VFW Hall in the fall, to be named for the late Edward Vincent Asip of Amityville, a
U.S. Marine who was killed in the Vietnam War.
Mayor Siry also expressed an interest in replacing the plaque on the memorial clock at the Village
triangle, and dedicating an area of Village Hall to Marie Garraffo, a former Mayor’s Secretary who
worked for under several Village administrations.
