Board of Trustees Meeting Minutes May 22, 2023 Meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m. MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Dennis Siry, Trustee Michael O’Neill, Trustee Owen E. Brooks, Jr., Trustee Roger Smith MEMBERS ABSENT: Deputy Mayor Kevin Smith ALSO PRESENT: Village Attorney Bruce Kennedy APD Lieutenant Frank Caramanica AFD 2nd Assistant Chief Rob Macomber Building Inspector Michael Breitweg Clerk/Treasurer Catherine Murdock Assistant to the Mayor Wendy O’Neill Mayor Siry welcomed everyone and invited Lt. Caramanica to lead the Pledge of Allegiance. Mayor Siry announced Memorial Day service is on May 29th at the Village Triangle at 10 a.m., local photographer Joe Turner’s memorial service is on May 30th, 6 – 8 p.m., at the high school; Kiwanis Golf Outing is June 23rd (see a Kiwanian for info); the Rotary Gift of Life Gala is June 1st (see a Rotarian for info). On June 17th at 9:30 a.m. there will be two additional Walk Audits for the Active Transportation Study, at 9 a.m. and at 10:30 a.m., leaving from 9/11 Memorial Park. He added that the Farmers Market opens on June 3rd, and runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The annual Soldier Ride will go through the Village on July 14th, leaving Town of Babylon around 9 a.m. Please come out and support our veterans. Chief Burton added that all are invited to Coffee with a Cop on May 1st at Brownstone’s. Mayor’s Actions Mayor Siry invited Junior League Co-Chairs Tracey Cullen and Jen Squicciarini to announce the winners of the 2023 Junior League of Amityville Essay Contest. Mayor Siry and the Trustees presented proclamations to winners Abby Hayes (1st place) and Peyton Campbell (2nd place). The essay topic was to “explain what your favorite quote means to you.” Mayor Siry then proceeded with the agenda.
