Public Comments
Matthew Kramer, 200 Richmond Ave., Amityville asked the Board to install a stop sign on Richmond
Ave. and Anita Pl. to slow down traffic for the safety of his family. He noted that several of the trees on
Richmond Avenue along his property have scars from being hit over the years and he feels the area is
dangerous for pedestrians and others. The Mayor advised there is a stop sign at Mole Pl., not far from the
intersection.

Board of Trustees Meeting
Minutes
June 12, 2023
Michael Pratt, 356 Ocean Avenue, agreed that people drive very fast between signs on Village streets.
He then asked the Board to put in No Parking signs on the end of Richmond Ave. at the Ocean Ave.
Public Dock close to where his home is located. He also asked to have the dock closed to the public at
night, recommending from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Chief Burton explained that some people like to fish at the
public pier at various hours. He reminded the resident to call APD anytime there is an issue.
Mr. Pratt reported that illegal and elicit activities are taking place there, and vehicles idle at all hours. He
cited safety concerns for his family and stated that several other streets have no parking signs on them,
including Ocean Ave. and Grand Central Ave.-- so this can and should be done. Enforcement is a
deterrent, all agreed. Mayor Siry stated that the Board and Police Chief would consider his request and
report back with a course of action.
Mara Blagojevic McDaniels, 357 Ocean Ave., Amityville, expressed similar concerns but stated that
vehicles often park in front of her home and block her driveway which creates a dangerous situation. She
has also had to clean up the area of debris left behind by people using the pier and she is concerned that
people are drinking or smoking there and driving under the influence.
Matt Switt, 53 Elm Place, Amityville, stated that he has lived on Elm Place for his whole life and his
grandparents lived here since 1922. Over the years the block has changed, he said, going from one of the
nicest streets to one of the least attractive. He would like to see a Board of Ethics formed in the Village.
