Mayor Siry then invited public comments.
Patti Dieck, 86 Union Ave., thanked the Board for listening to residents’ concerns and for passing a law
prohibiting artificial turf in the Village.
She brought up other quality of life issues, including:
Increased incidence of loud music at homes on Oak St., Avon Pl. and in the vicinity of Bedell Pl. and
Terry Ave. She reported that APD has been very responsive but more needs to be done to enforce noise.
The trash cash at the James A. Caples Park Fishing Pier needs to be emptied more often, especially over
the weekend, and a second fishing line receptacle is needed to prevent lines from polluting the bay.
Human excrement on the staircase of the LIRR is a problem and public urination is occurring at the high
school. Mayor Siry said the LIRR property is under MTA jurisdiction, but DPW can help. He urged her to
contact the School District and to continue to report any incidents to APD. He suggested that perhaps
better lighting would be helpful on the school property.
