Board of Trustees Meeting Minutes September 23, 2024 The Board of Trustees Special Meeting was called to order at 7:03 p.m. MEMBERS PRESENT: Deputy Mayor Kevin Smith; Trustee Michael O’Neill, Trustee Roger Smith, Trustee Owen Brooks, Jr. MEMBERS ABSENT: Mayor Dennis Siry ALSO PRESENT: Village Attorney Bruce Kennedy APD Chief Bryan Burton DPW Superintendent Bruce Hopper 2nd Asst. AFD Chief Rob Macomber Clerk/Treasurer Catherine Murdock Assistant to the Mayor Wendy O’Neill Deputy Mayor Kevin Smith asked Chief Burton to lead the Pledge of Allegiance. The Pledge was recited. He asked for a moment of silence for the family of Helene Juliano, who passed away. She was a charter member of the Amityville Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary and wife of ex-chief Rocco Juliano, mother of Ex-Chief James Juliano, and grandmother of Chief Stephen Juliano. We extend our condolences; she will be missed. The Deputy Mayor announced upcoming events which included: St. Martin of Tours Blood Drive on Wed., 4:00 to 8:30 p.m.; the Kiwanis 75th Anniversary celebration on Oct. 5th; Rotary Club Apple Festival on Oct. 5th; Amityville Memorial High School Homecoming – this Saturday, with parade starting at the LIRR down Broadway to Avon Place, starting at 12:30 pm.; the Battle of the Badges fundraising softball game at Amityville Beach on Sept. 28th at 6 p.m.; the South Bay Clean Up on Sept. 28th at 8 a.m. – now being run by Todd Brice’s sons; the Village Garage Sale will be held on Oct. 19th, as well as First United Methodist Church Fall Fling fair and the BVCA Farmers Market. As such, it was noted that the Village will give the property owner notice to cease and desist. Ms. Mellish has witnessed cars parking there over the past three weeks.
