ANACONDA-DEER LODGE COUNTY BOARD OF PUBLIC HEALTH MEETING MINUTES Thursday, September 15, 2016, 4.30pm Anaconda Community Center, 3rd Floor Conference Room Present: Margaret Osika, John Drastal, Jane Dierenfeldt (BOH Chairperson), Terry Vermeire, Karen Solberg, Sandy Bivins and Kitty Basirico Excused: Cindy Reed (Health Officer), Audrey Matteson, Kate Coward, Absent: Karen Courtney Guests: William Converse – DES Coordinator I. Call to Order – Jane Dierenfeldt called the meeting to order at 4:37 PM II. John Drastal motioned to approval of the July minutes, Sandy Bivins seconded and the motion passed with all in favor. William Converse – Disaster and Emergency Services Coordinator - gave a detailed presentation to the Board on the origins and current scope of Disaster and Emergency Services and the Local Emergency Preparedness for the County. Brief discussion was held on different aspects of how to handle different emergency should they arise in the county. IV. DEPARTMENT REPORTS A. Environmental Health Department – Questions were asked regarding properties that have received an approved variance if the property is sold. Karen Solberg explained the process and what the new property owners may have to do. Each is a case in and of itself and addressed as such. B. School update – The School District is being covered by Cookie Johnson, former school nurse until a new nurse is hired. C. Public Health Department - Kitty Basirico presented report. No questions were asked. D. County/Commission Update - See Superfund update. E. County/Superfund Update – Terry Vermeire commented on some aspects of the decay ordinance. Discussion of some examples in the community were discussed. Some potential alternatives were discussed. F. Code Enforcement Officer - no update G. Other updates - none V. Old Business: BOH Vacancies –Kate Coward expressed interest in applying as voting member of the BOH once posted which would open up both ex-officio positions. Strategic Planning update: Has not met since last BOH meeting. VI. New Business: VII. Miscellaneous/Announcements, including educational offerings: - Public Meeting with USDA on Thursday September 29th from 2 – 4pm was brought up and participation, if possible, was encouraged. - Discussion regarding mosquito districts and spraying took place. Representatives will be contacted for presentations at future BOH meetings. VIII. Public Comment: None. IX. Sandy Bivins motioned to adjourn the meeting at 6:08 PM, John Drastal seconded the motion and the motion passed with all in favor.
