City of Anderson Minutes of the Regular Meeting October 7, 2014 Board of Public Works PRESENT: Pete Heuer, Chairman Anthony P. Pochard Charlie Jones, Member Amy Dillon Roger Clark, Member Michael Spyers Ashley Hopper, City Attorney Michael Farmer Charlee Turner, Recording Secretary Sheila Ashley Ken De La Bastide APPROVAL OF MINUTES Meeting was called to order at 3:05 p.m. Member Jones moves to approve the minutes of the previous meeting. Member Clark seconds. Motion passes unanimously. NEW BUSINESS APPROVE A PROPOSAL WITH PLANT GROWTH MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS LLC TO PERFORM A SURVEY OF AMLP’S ELECTRIC LINES Anthony Pochard, Light and Power, proposes a survey of city lines to better manage the tree trimming and vegetation control program. Mr. Pochard explains that outages are commonly caused by vegetation contact, through overgrowth or weakness of trees. Mr. Pochard requests the board approve the proposal with Plant Growth Management, a company that surveys trees to target trimming and removal at those trees which grow fastest and which most directly endanger continuity of electric service, to reduce outages and to improve the city’s vegetation management activities. Costs are not-to-exceed lump sum of $16,400.00. The scope of the survey is limited to AMLP power lines located both within and outside of the City of Anderson. Member Clark moves to approve the proposal with Plant Growth Management Systems LLC. Member Jones seconds. Motion passes unanimously. OLD BUSINESS CLAIMS With no further business coming before the Board it was unanimously passed to pay the claims in the amount of $1,776,163.23. Member Jones made the motion to pay the bills and Member Clark seconds. Motion passed unanimously.
