City Council Workshop Presentation Recap
Mayor Trude commended the commission and staff on the recent city council workshop presentation.
Mayor Trude enjoyed hearing from the various individuals who utilize the facility. The Mayor reminded
the commission that Andover is a destination city and that growth is imminent.
Prioritization Guidelines
Tony Peterson, AHYHA, would like to see additional verbiage added to the prioritization guidelines that
indicates a set number of guaranteed ice hours at the Andover Community Center Ice Arena for AHYHA.
Discussion occurred amongst the commission. Erick will work with Tony Peterson in making revisions.
Mayor Trude recommended some of the wording be changed on the current prioritization guidelines as well.
Suggested changes are change Andover Youth Hockey to Andover Huskies Youth Hockey Association and
High School Sports be changed to District #11 High School Sports.
AHYHA Update
AHYHA is donating $18,000 towards a new scoreboard for the Andover Community Center Ice Arena. It
will be located where the existing board is hanging and the existing board will be moved to the South Wall.
AHYHA has received their first draft of hours from the Super Rink. Tryouts are scheduled to begin
September 25th. A new summer development skills program has started which includes 80 minute sessions
of which players can pick and choose the sessions to attend. AHYHA is subsidizing this program.
The commission thought it would be a good idea to try and bring local athletes together to promote our
community to showcase local athletic achievements by both youth and adults. How can we Celebrate Our
Community?

Commission Input
Mr. Kellogg again reminded the commission that they are strongly encouraged to attend all commission
meetings. Don Schmeichel suggested that if we continue to have too many conflicts among commission
members and not able to make quorum, that we should look at sending out a list of potential meeting dates
to commission members and select a date where most members have availability. Cindy distributed a
schedule of future commission meeting dates and locations through May 2018.
The next advisory commission meeting is scheduled for Monday, July 10 at 6:00 pm at Andover City Hall.
The agenda will include proposed budget and facility rental rates, original white board potential and current
customers and prioritization summary. Frank will contact City Administrator, Jim Dickinson, to see if he
can attend this meeting.
