Pedestrian Trails Committee Meeting Minutes
Wednesday, March 27th, 2019 at 3:30 pm at the Community Center
I. Call to Order-Brian Smith called the meeting to order at 3:33pm
II. Pledge of Allegiance
III. Roll Call-Brian Smith, Carolyn Smith, Randy Kaiser, Lonny Nater, Katrina White, Santos
Martinez, Patrick West, Shay Tibljas with the Village, Rogers Lanon Council Liaison, Carl Colonius,
guest. A quorum was established.
IV. Approval of Agenda-Randy motioned to approve. Carolyn 2nd. All approved.
V. Approval of Minutes from the November 28th, 2018 Meeting-Brian made a motion to approve,
Santos 2nd, all approved.
VI. ECTA (Enchanted Circle Trails Association) Overview (Carl Colonius)-A non profit organization,
representing both motorized and non-motorized. 12 trails system, Angel Fire is a part of it. There are
Regional reports available, lists trails that are a priority. Trail Master training, which is an annual
event. Trail website, helps visitors with trails and maps and such. Branding a trail system, and having
the brand on signs.
VII. Old Business
A. Frank Young Trail Extension (Including to the Blinking Light) Update-Get clearance from
Resort, still need clearance in writing from CS Ranch. Per Rogers, Fabian with the Village,
is working on it. Hopes to put on the April 16th agenda. Shay stated hoping to use Taos
Youth Core to complete trail. Hope to start in May if ion budget, if not, Sept.
VIII. New Business
A. Signage for Frank Young Trail Extension-Brian has mapped recommendations for signs
B. Brochure Update Contents and Schedule-New brochures for 2020. Adding new Village and
Cougar trails. Patrick will check with Resort about new maps being redone and working
with the Village.
C. Trails Survey-Suggestion box. Shay stated we could have one on the new Village website
at some point.
D. Potential Impact of the Proposed Firewise Ordinance-Firewise committee for education on
firewise. No new information until passed at council.

XI. Next Meeting Date and Adjournment-May, 22nd, 3:30pm. Carolyn motioned to adjourn
5:12Pm. Brian 2nd, all approved.
