Linda Diane Feldt called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in the Guy C.
Larcom, Jr. Building, 2nd Floor Council Chambers, 301 E. Huron Street.

Tim Sanderson attended as an alternate for Commissioner Sims.

A motion was made by Trudeau, seconded by Kleinman, that the
Consent Agenda be Approved by the Commission and the minutes
be forwarded to the City Council and should be returned by
6/17/2019. On a unanimous voice vote, the Chair declared the
motion carried.

Improvement Projects (TIM HULL, LINDA DIANE FELDT)
Commissioner questions and comments included:
- Modification to 1st and 4th paragraphs. "Internal politics" to be changed
to "non-experts."
19-0824 City Council Resolution Regarding Community Engagement and Approval Processes
for City Related Improvement Projects
A motion was made by Parsons, seconded by Kleinman, that the
Transportation Commission Response to the City Council
Resolution Regarding Community Engagement and Approval
Processes for City Related Improvement Projects be Accepted as
amended by the Commission. The Commission action will be
forwarded to the City Council and should be returned by 6/17/2019.
On a voice vote, the Chair declared the motion carried, with a no
vote by Sanderson and Councilmember Griswold.
State of Michigan Crosswalk Law (COUNCILMEMBER GRISWOLD, LINDA DIANE FELDT)
Commissioner questions and comments included:
- Potential future agenda item once language is released by the
Legislative Services Bureau.
Scio Church Service Drive Traffic Calming Update (KAYLA COLEMAN)
Kayla Coleman provided an overview of the Scio Church Service Drive
Traffic Calming process.
Scio Church Service Drive Traffic Calming Action (LINDA DIANE FELDT)
Commissioner questions and comments included:
- Request for street light for new crosswalk.
- Interest in a raised crosswalk west of Device #1.
19-0967 Scio Church Service Drive Traffic Calming
A motion was made by Kleinman, seconded by Gordon, that the
The Transportation Commission recommends that City Council
approve the Resolution to Approve the Installation of Traffic
Calming Devices on Scio Church Service Drive. The Commission
action will be forwarded to the City Council and should be returned
by 6/3/2019. On a voice vote, the Chair declared the motion carried,

with a no vote by Councilmember Girswold.
Lane Evaluation Projects Update (Earhart, Traverwood, Green)(RAYMOND HESS)
Raymond Hess provided an overview of the Lane Evaluation projects.

Commissioner questions and comments included:
- Existing crosswalk lighting near Earhart project area.
- Long-term implementation of "test conditions."
- Crosswalk placement relative to Earhart roundabout.
- Construction schedule: request to complete Nixon Road coorridor prior
to Green and Traverwood.
- Safety concern regarding Traverwood on-street parking.
19-0972 Lane Evaluation Projects
A motion was made by Kleinman, seconded by Parsons, that the
Transportation Commission recommends that City Council approve
the Resolutions to Proceed with Road Reconfigurations for Green
Road, from Burbank Drive to Plymouth Road, for Traverwood Drive,
from Huron Parkway to Plymouth Road, and for Earhart Road,
including a Safety Enhancement Project, from US-23 to South
Waldenwood Drive, and to allocate $34,500 from the General Fund
for improvements associated with the Earhart roundabout
($100,000). The Commission action will be forwarded to the City
Council and should be returned by 6/17/2019. On a voice vote, the
Chair declared the motion carried. Nay vote by
Councilmember Griswold.

- AAPS-Margolis: update on the Safe Routes to School program and
May Walk & Bike to School Day.

COMMISSION MEMBER COMMUNICATIONS (LINDA DIANE FELDT)
Commissioners provided the following updates and comments:
- Gordon and Trudeau: expressed thankfulness for the privilege to serve
on the commission.
- Kleinman: thanked Gordon, Trudeau, and Feldt, and acknowledged
dismay with the politics surrounding commission re-appointments.
- Hull: concurred with preceding comments and sentiments.
- Parsons: commended the initiative to increase diversity across all city
commissions, thanked Feldt for advancing diversity.
- Griswold: agreed with preceding comments in support of Linda Diane.
- Boland: expressed shock and confusion about the process and thanked
Gordon, Trudeau, and Feldt.
