Chambers, Jr. City Council Chambers Public Safety Committee Public Safety Committee Standing Committee Minutes January 7, 2019 1. Call To Order Chairwoman Pindell Charles called the meeting to order at 6:09 p.m. 2. Roll Call Present: 3- Alderwoman Pindell Charles, Alderman Paone and Alderwoman Henson 3. Approval of Agenda (any changes to the agenda should be made here) Alderman Paone moved to adopt the Regular Meeting Agenda. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 3- Alderwoman Pindell Charles, Alderman Paone and Alderwoman Henson 4. Business before Committee a. Approval of Minutes PSC12.03.1 Approval of Minutes for the Regular Meeting 8 Alderman Paone moved to approve. Seconded. A roll call vote was taken. The motion CARRIED by the following vote: Aye: 3- Alderwoman Pindell Charles, Alderman Paone and Alderwoman Henson ID-328-18 “Public Safety: Spotlight!”-APD Police Chief Baker presented his recognitions to the committee. ID-329-18 “Public Safety: Spotlight!”-AFD Fire Chief Stokes, and Captain Edwards presented their recognitions to the committee. ID-330-18 “Public Safety: Spotlight!”-OEM Deputy Fire Chief/Office of Emergency Management Director Simmons introduced Katelyn Tisch, the newest member of the Office of Emergency Management. ID-334-18 APD Update: Written Report and Comments, Year to Date Overdose Summary Police Chief Baker was present and answered questions from the committee. ID-335-18 AFD Update: Written Report and Comments, Year to Date Overdose Summary Fire Chief Stokes, Captain Edwards, and Deputy Chief Remaley were present and answered questions from the committee. ID-331-18 “Public Safety: Did You Know?”- AFD City of Annapolis Page 1 Public Safety Committee Standing Committee Minutes January 7, 2019 Fire Chief Stokes, and Deputy Chief Remaley were present and answered questions from the committee. Captain Edwards was present and provided the committee with a presentation on the costs of EMS equipment. ID-332-18 “Public Safety: Did You Know?” - OEM Deputy Fire Chief/Office of Emergency Management Director Simmons was present and answered questions from the committee. ID-333-18 “Public Safety: Did You Know?” - APD Police Chief Baker was present and answered questions from the committee. 5. Legislation before Committee O-45-18 Fair Housing - Unlawful housing practices - For the purpose of including a Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher holder as one of the protected categories under the City of Annapolis Fair Housing laws; and providing a definition of ‘source of income’”. Add Alderwoman Pindell Charles as a co sponsor. Alderman Paone moved to recommend favorably. Seconded. A roll call vote was taken. The motion CARRIED by the following vote: Aye: 3- Alderwoman Pindell Charles, Alderman Paone and Alderwoman Henson 6.
