Chambers, Jr. City Council Chambers Public Safety Committee Public Safety Committee Standing Committee Meeting December 21, 2020 Minutes Call To Order Chairwoman Pindell Charles called the meeting to order at 3:02 p.m. Roll Call Alderman Paone arrived at 3:10 p.m. Present: 2- Alderwoman Pindell Charles and Alderman Gay Absent: 1- Alderman Paone Approval of Agenda (any changes to the agenda should be made here) Alderman Gay moved to adopt the Special Meeting Agenda. Seconded. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 2- Alderwoman Pindell Charles and Alderman Gay Absent: 1- Alderman Paone 1. Business and Miscellaneous Approval of Minutes PSC12.14.2 Approval of Minutes for the Special Meeting 0 Alderman Gay moved to approve the minutes for the Special Meeting. Seconded. A roll call vote was taken. The motion CARRIED by the following vote: Aye: 2- Alderwoman Pindell Charles and Alderman Gay Absent: 1- Alderman Paone 2. Supplemental Appropriations SA-20-21 Grant Fund - Police Department - Maryland Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention Revenue: State Grant Revenue - Exploring Predictive Policing ($100,000.00) Expenditure: State Grant Expense - Exploring Predictive Policing ($100,000.00) Ted Knight, College Park, MD 20742, University of Maryland Strategic Partnership, Research, Dr. Gary D. LaFree,College Park, MD 20742, University of Maryland Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice, Kiminori Nakamura, College Park, MD 20742, University of Maryland Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice, Dr. Shuvra Bhattacharyya, College Park, MD 20742, University of Maryland Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Police Chief Jackson, Police Administrative Manager McCoy, and City Attorney Lyles were present and answered questions from the Committee. Alderman Paone moved to recommend favorably SA-20-21. Seconded. A roll call vote was taken.
