Chambers, Jr. City Council Chambers Public Safety Committee Public Safety Committee Standing Committee Meeting February 1, 2021 Minutes Call To Order Chairwoman Pindell Charles called the meeting to order at 4:05 p.m. Roll Call Present: 3- Alderwoman Pindell Charles, Alderman Paone and Alderman Gay Approval of Agenda (any changes to the agenda should be made here) Alderman Paone moved to adopt the Regular Meeting Agenda as amended to add Add O-19-19 and "Citizen's Concern" discussion to the agenda. Seconded. A roll call vote was taken. The motion CARRIED by the following vote: Aye: 3- Alderwoman Pindell Charles, Alderman Paone and Alderman Gay 1. Business and Miscellaneous Approval of Minutes PSC12.21.2 Approval of Minutes for the Special Meeting 0 Alderman Paone moved to approve the minutes for the Regular Meeting. Seconded. A roll call vote was taken. The motion CARRIED by the following vote: Aye: 3- Alderwoman Pindell Charles, Alderman Paone and Alderman Gay "Public Safety: Spotlight!" Police, Fire, Office of Emergency Management Fire Chief Remaley was present and presented a Spotlight on Capt. Edwards receiving the Charles H. Steele award. Office of Emergency Management Department Deputy Director Mandell was present and spoke on the Mitigation Program. "Did You Know?" Police, Fire, Office of Emergency Management Police Training Manager McCoy was present and spoke on the Department's grant searching efforts. Office of Emergency Management Deputy Director Mandell was present and spoke on the City Dock Revitalization Census Plan. Fire Chief Remaley and Fire Deputy Chief Spriggs were present and spoke on Fireboat 36. Alderwoman Tierney was present and addressed the Committee. Legislation before Committee O-49-20 Drug-Loitering Free Zones - Repeal - For the purpose of repealing certain provisions of the Annapolis City Code concerning loitering in Drug-Loitering Free Zones. Alderman Paone moved to recommend favorably O-49-20. Seconded. A roll call vote was taken. The motion CARRIED by the following vote: Aye: 3- Alderwoman Pindell Charles, Alderman Paone and Alderman Gay O-19-19 Adequate Public Facilities - Auto transportation facilities - For the purpose of clarifying the circumstances that would require a traffic impact analysis for a proposed project; clarifying the standards to be used to determine adequacy; and generally relating to the adequacy of auto transportation facilities. Alderwoman Tierney was present and addressed the Committee. Alderman Paone moved to recommend unfavorably O-19-19. Seconded. A roll call vote was taken. The motion CARRIED by the following vote: Aye: 3- Alderwoman Pindell Charles, Alderman Paone and Alderman Gay ID-19-21 Citizens Public Safety Concern Alderwoman Tierney was present and spoke on potential new tenant at 141 West St. Police Training Manager McCoy was present and answered questions from the Committee.
