Motion CARRIED SET/AMEND AGENDA: Motion by Swiacki seconded by LeMieux to approve agenda as amended: Under New Business add: 11) h – Property Rental - Bordman Rd., 11) i – MABAS – Modified agreement, 11) j. New ambulance. Ayes: Swiacki, Goetzinger, Smith, Paterek, LeMieux Motion CARRIED Fire Dept. – Fulltime Firefighter/Paramedic: Motion by Paterek seconded Swiacki by to hire Justin Jerzewski into the Permanent Full-Time Firefighter position, rate of pay per current Collective Bargaining Agreement between Armada Township and IAFF Local, backdated to the date of vacancy; 05/10/16. Ayes: Smith, Goetzinger, Swiacki, Paterek, LeMieux Motion CARRIED Fire Dept. - SAFER Grant position: Motion by Paterek seconded by Swiacki to hire Robert Abraham into the SAFER Grant funded firefighter position. Rate of pay per provisions of the SAFER Grant. Date of hire to be May 12, 2016. Ayes: Goetzinger, Smith, Swiacki, LeMieux, Paterek Motion CARRIED Motion by Paterek seconded by Swiacki to approve employee contract between the Township of Armada and Robert Abraham as presented. Ayes: Paterek, Swiacki, LeMieux, Goetzinger, Smith Motion CARRIED Assistant Chief Nick Walkowski administered the Firefighter Oath to Robert Abraham. Fire Dept. – Truck Cap: Motion by Paterek seconded by Swiacki to approve the purchase of a truck cap for Fire Department vehicle Utility 1, from Aero-Trim Inc., for $2,395, funded from line item #336-736 Vehicle Maintenance: Ayes: LeMieux, Swiacki, Goetzinger, Smith, Paterek Motion CARRIED Planning Commission. – Zoning Ordinance Amendments: Motion by LeMieux seconded by Swiacki to approve zoning ordinance amendments: Sections 2.14, 6.02, 16.29, 16.43 and 16.15 as presented. Ayes: Smith, Swiacki, Goetzinger, LeMieux, Paterek Motion CARRIED Township Park: Motion by Goetzinger seconded by Paterek to postpone discussion on bids submitted for ballfield fencing until next month’s meeting. Motion CARRIED Foreclosures: Treasurer Smith discussed six parcels that are in foreclosure. Motion by Paterek seconded by Swiacki to postpone consideration of parcels pending County Treasurer decision to allow owners to pay back taxes. Motion CARRIED Bordman Rd.: Clerk Swiacki stated that Mr. Tucker approached her in the office on Tuesday and inquired about renting the Bordman property for his crop. Mr. Tucker owns the land next door and due to time constraints for planting, he would like approval from the board as soon as possible. Motion by Swiacki seconded by Goetzinger to approve rental of Bordman Rd Vacant Land Parcel #12-02-03-200-017 for the period January 1, 2016 thru December 1, 2016 for $550 to Richard Tucker. Proof of liability insurance provided at time of signing of a simple cash rent statement. Ayes: LeMieux, Swiacki, Paterek, Goetzinger, Smith Motion CARRIED Fire Dept.: MABAS- Motion by Swiacki seconded by Paterek to approve and enter into the Michigan Mutual Aid Box Alarm System Association Agreement effective May 11, 2016 between Participating Political Subdivision as Signatories to this Interlocal Agreement as presented. Fire Chief to sign and file with Macomb County Clerk’s Office. Ayes: Smith, Swiacki, Goetzinger, LeMieux, Paterek Motion CARRIED 2 Armada Township Board Regular Board Meeting Minutes 23121 East Main Armada, MI 48005 May 11, 2016 7:00 p.m. New Ambulance: Chief stated that Alpha 2 suffered a mechanical breakdown. Chief contacted five vendors to submit bids for a new ambulance, two were received. One from R & R Fire Truck Repair, Inc. and the other from Emergency Vehicles Plus. Motion by Paterek seconded by Swiacki to allow Fire Chief to pursue ambulance purchase from R & R Fire Truck Repair Inc., which has the better warranties for the Duramax 6.6 Liter Diesel Chassis of 2016 GMC G-4500 for $152,368 with the understanding that there will be additional charges between $15,000-$17,000 for radios and graphics. Transfer of $175,000 from AccuMed Account to new line item in capital outlay purchase of ambulance as amended. Ayes: Smith, Paterek, Goetzinger, LeMieux, Swiacki Motion CARRIED Motion by Paterek seconded by Swiacki to allow fire chief to explore having the box from Alpha 2 placed on a new chassis bring back to the board in a month or two for consideration.
