• Meeting called to order at 6:05 P.M.

• Committee chair Cameron Harrelson started the meeting thanking HRC members for
being present and for helping with the Athens Pride, Hot Corner, Morton Theatre, and
Juneteenth events.
• Dr. Epps provided updates from the Inclusion Office
• The committee took time to recognize Ke'Marcis Howard as vice chair.
• The committee provided feedback on the community events:
a. Reiterated the importance of having more time to plan and organize future
events.
b. Participation from more of the committee members.
c. A clear understanding of roles, responsibilities, and expectations while
participating in events.
d. Events went well despite the time to put things together
e. HRC’s presence may have been overlooked
f. More time to create an outreach plan could have to led to better
promotion, and community participation
g. The committee should consider accessibility when creating and
disseminating material.
h. Big impact on people not in the county
• The Inclusion Office gave feedback on the community events

a. Inclusion Office is there to support HRC events, not to staff them
• The Inclusion Office shared results and feedback from the community survey.
• A committee recommended that the committee create a folder to help new members with
onboarding
• Subcommittee chairs’ provided the group with updates,
a. NDO – Working to translate Non-Discrimination Ordinance in Spanish
b. Community Outreach – Plan to meet with event coordinators to debrief
events, plan to establish a town hall, find community needs assessment
data
c. Rec. Policy – Working to establish a rubric to recommend policy, creating
a community survey based on already identified policies
• The committee discussed attendance expectations.
• Meeting adjourned at 6:50 P.M.

the Mayor and Commission on behalf of this body.
