ATHENS TOWN COUNCIL Minutes– February 2, 2016 Athens Town Hall The Athens Town Council met in regular session at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 in the Athens Town Hall. Members present were, Charles Abraham Lilly, Roger Lokay, Jed Nolan, Timothy Pike, John David Smith and Lynne White. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: On a motion by Lokay second by Nolan, Council approved the Minutes of January 19, 2016 without objection. CITIZENS INPUT: No citizens appeared before Council. EMPLOYEE REPORTS QUARTERLY DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS – Melissa Pentasuglia, Water Plant Operator, gave the Water Plant report, which is attached. OLD BUSINESS:  Progress, Recommendations, and Appointments of Committees – Pike will discuss mayoral appointments and suggestion at a future meeting.  Web Site Design and Contract (From Social Media Committee, which is charged with: Development/maintenance of the Town Website, Facebook page, and text messaging service). Members: Roger Lokay, Tim Pike, Lynne White - Council discussed the contract relative to the Council agreement to appropriate $1,100 for website design, along with maintenance for one year. NEW BUSINESS:  Snow Removal – Council discussed opportunities for businesses to improve sidewalk snow removal as specified in the Town Ordinances. Pike will follow-up with a reminder letter to the businesses.  John Beckman, Tetratech, the finished Source Water Protection Plan – John Beckman, WV Health Department consultant, reported to Council on the finished Source Water Protection Plan, attached. Beckman told Council that as Athens has very few environmental hazards, Athens if very well situated regarding protection of source water. Answering a question regarding leaking/leaching pipes, Water Plant operator, Pentasuglia, stated that the Town tests all pipes within the Town on a rotating basis. These tests are within acceptable levels now as they have been in the past. Beckman was very complimentary regarding the Water Plant and the Town. Athens Town Council Minutes 2-2-2016 POINTS OF INFORMATION:  Any Questions Regarding Water Quality? –Refer to report of Beckman, above.  Statutory Committees – Pike working on recommendations. OTHER BUSINESS, MAYORAL REPORTS, COUNCIL MEMBER INPUT: No other business, reports, or input were given. APPROVAL OF CURRENT BILLS (Action on Accounts): On a motion by Smith, second by Lokay, Council approved the current bills.
