The meeting was called to order by Chairman Pyles at 6:00 p.m.

MINUTES
The Minutes from the February 3, 2025 Park and Recreation Citizen Advisory Committee meeting were
submitted for approval. A motion to approve as submitted was made by Elizabeth Davis and Seconded
by Pat McDermott. A voice vote was taken with unanimous affirmative result and the motion passed.
AGENDA ITEMS
A. Park and Recreation Director Chris Conway reported that the official opening of the
Vlasis Playground will begin with a ribbon cutting on Saturday, April 26 at 10:00 AM he
added that the Playground site furnishings have been ordered. A lengthy discussion
regarding pond safety ensued. The Committee agreed to revisit the issue when the Vlasis
Ponds are renovated in the future. Director Conway updated the committee on the
Ballwin Golf Course Clubhouse improvements and added the putting lounge is nearly
complete and the Audio Visual system has been installed and is working well. Lastly
Director Conway informed the committee that he and staff are evaluating the current

membership rate structure and will have a proposal to present at an upcoming meeting.
Director Conway presented on the need to consider replacement of the water play
structure in the indoor pool Discussion around the type of replacement ensued.
Committee member Elizabeth Davis asked staff to consider replacing a singular structure
with multiple smaller pieces. Lastly Director Conway noted that the “Wheels &
Walkways” is now active on the City’s website and the next step is place signage in at a
few of the points of interest. Committee member Susan Harris requested that a QR code
to download the map be added to the sign.
B. Committee Member Pat McDermott, Committee Member Sandi Grassi and Director
Conway provided an update on the Ballwin Days Festival. The Festival will be held
August 14 to 17. Headlining bands have been booked, applications are being accepted
for vendors and sponsorships are rolling in. Conway requested if anyone was interested
in fund raising to reach out to him. Alderman Haug requested that a volunteer
application be created. Alderman Stallmann mentioned this year is Ballwin’s 75th
anniversary and and that he will be seeking ideas to celebrate.
C. Alderwoman Haug provided an update of incoming businesses.
D. Resident Olivia Pieknik presented on the Little Library effort she has taken on.
E. Committee Member Steven Wheeler asked several questions of City Administrator Eric
Sterman and Director Chris Conway regarding the Vlasis Park Master Plan, The
Crosswalk on Manchester Road near Old Ballwin Road. Discussion around each ensued.
ADJOURNMENT
A motion was made by Sue Pyles and seconded by Alderwoman Haug to adjourn. The motion was
passed by unanimous vote and the meeting was adjourned at 7:58 PM
