The meeting was called to order by Chairman Pyles at 6:00 p.m.

MINUTES
The Minutes from the April 21, 2025 Park and Recreation Citizen Advisory Committee meeting were
submitted for approval. A motion to approve as submitted was made by Sue Pyles and Seconded by
Jimmy Terbrock. A voice vote was taken with unanimous affirmative result and the motion passed.
AGENDA ITEMS
A. Park and Recreation Director Chris Conway provided a report of activities that covered
the previous two months. See report attached.
B. Resident Oliva Pienik provided a little library update. She is excited about the prospect
of collecting any leftover books from the Ballwin Days book booth. Pat McDermott
requested that the flyer be made for a book collection box at Ballwin Days. Aldermen
Siegel requested that a social media post be made prior to Ballwin Days.
C. Ballwin Grows Native representative Lori Stringer provided an update for upcoming
events regarding advocating, educating and facilitating native landscapes in Ballwin.

City administrator Sterman encouraged the public to attend the Health and Public Safety
meeting on July 14 to discuss mosquito spraying.
D. Pat McDermott working on layout and volunteer reported that Ballwin Days chairs are
working on festival layout and the volunteer form. The next meeting is June 18 5:45 pm
at the Wolf Taproom.
E. Parks and Recreation Director Chris Conway reported that he was contacted by a
gentleman who was interested in partnering with the city to add a disc golf course in one
of Ballwin’s Parks.
F. Elizabeth Davis inquired about how the public can report a problem in the parks.
Director Conway replied that typically requests come in through Social Media, Phones to
The Pointe and through the Public Works report a problem site. Sandi Grassi requested
an update on a potential cross walk at Ferris Park. City Administrator Sterman said he
would follow up. Steven Wheeler requested an update on site furnishings. Director
Conway reported that he and staff decided to match the purchase of new site furnishings
for Vlasis Park with what is in place at Ferris Park currently. Delivery date is expected
the first week of July. Steven Wheeler inquired about any traction with the ponds in
regards to the comments made at the last meeting. Director Conway reported that a
survey was just completed at Vlasis Park in preparation for a bid to have the pond
dredged.
G. Chairwoman Pyles stated that the next meeting will be held September 15, 6:00 PM at
The Pointe.
H. Elizabeth Davis made a motion to rearrange the agenda to have guests make public
comments first. Steven Wheeler seconded the motion and the motion was unanimously
passed.
ADJOURNMENT
A motion was made by Elizabeth Davis and seconded by Jimmy Terbrock to adjourn. The motion was
passed by unanimous vote and the meeting was adjourned at 8:00 PM
