VILLAGE OF BARNEVELD BOARD MEETING
Monday, March 4th, 2024

DRAFT SUBJECT TO APPROVAL
1. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by John Forbes. State of Public Notice was given and
agendas were available.
2. Roll Call: Scott Leahy, Rhonda Hazen, Don Hugill, Chris Valcheff, Mike Peterson, Brandon Watson
and John Forbes.
3. Pledge of Allegiance
4. Motion by B Watson/R Hazen to approve the February 5th, 2024 Village Board Motion carried.
5. No Informal Public Comment
6. President’s report – Well #2 repairs covered by insurance and Sullivan Agreement for WWTF
updates will be on April agenda
7. Motion by R Hazen/S Leahy to reimburse $1,400.00 of the County Line Concrete bill for 317 N.
Grove St., which is the amount the Village would have been liable for. Motion carried.
8. Motion by M Peterson/B Watson to deny the snow removal bill for behind the house at 308 N.
Grove St. Motion carried
9. MSA Professional Services:
• Motion by B Watson/S Leahy to approve the quote, in the amount of $150,700.00, from
Gerber Leisure Products, Inc for Splash Pad installation. Motion carried.
• Motion by J Forbes/R Hazen to approve Pay Request from Robinson Brothers
Environmental, Inc., in the amount of $31,800.00 (retainage of $3,500.00), for Memorial
Park Demolition. Motion carried.
• Motion by S Leahy/C Valcheff to approve the Certified Survey Map from DMH
Development LLC for Village of Barneveld Lot 2 (Well #3 location). Motion carried.
• R Hazen/B Watson to accept the bid for Wellhouse #3 and Ground Reservoir from
Portzen Construction, Inc., in the amount of $5,969,000.00. Motion carried.
10. Police Chief Report. Call response for February: Citations/Warnings - 13 and Service - 21.
11. Public Works Report
• Motion by C Valcheff/M Peterson to sell at auction the Memorial Park play equipment
with Wisconsin Surplus – equipment needs to be removed by April 30 th, 2024. Motion
carried.
• Motion by M Peterson/C Valcheff to have the School move the shed at Memorial Park by
April 30th, 2024 or Village will move shed to Birch Lake Park. Motion carried.
12. Motion by M Peterson/C Valcheff to table the replacement for the Economic Development
Committee to April meeting. Motion carried.
13. Committee/Commission Reports. Meeting with Ross DeWitt, DNR Forester on Friday, March 29 th,
2024 at 2:30 pm at Birch Lake Park. Open House on Sunday, April 14 th, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm
at the Ope Haus for Memorial Park Refresh.
14. Motion by B Watson/D Hugill to approve the bills as presented. Motion carried.
15. Motion by C Valcheff/M Peterson to table the status of Birch Lake Park this summer to April. Motion
carried.
16. No future agenda items and business.
17. Motion by M Peterson/C Valcheff to adjourn at 8:48 p.m. Motion carried.

this notice.
