Parks and Public Tree Advisory Board Meeting

MINUTES OF CITY OF BASTROP PARKS AND PUBLIC TREE ADVISORY BOARD May 2, 2019 The Bastrop Parks and Public Tree Advisory Board met in a Regular Meeting on Thursday, May 2, 2019, at 6: 00 p. m- at the Bastrop City Hall Executive Conference Room, located at 1311 Chestnut Street, Bastrop, Texas. Members present were Chair Jimmy Crouch, Betty Rucker, Kelly Dawson, Dorothy Skarnulis, Barbara Wolanski, and Jamie Creacy. Staff present were David Junek, Curtis Hancock, Heather Ambrose, Trey Job, Councilman Lyle Nelson and YMCA Director Terry Moore. 1. CALL TO ORDER At 6: 00 p. m. Chair Jimmy Crouch called the meeting to order with a quorum being present. Board Member Margaret Robinson was absent from the meeting. 2. STAFF AND BOARD BRIEFINGS 2A. Parks and Recreation Report Presentation was made by Parks Superintendent David Junek. Handouts were given for Monthly Operational Report. 2B. Bastrop State Park Report Presentation was made by Board Member Jamie Creacy. 2C. Bastrop YMCA Report Presentation was made by YMCA Director Terry Moore. 2D. Youth Parks Activity Committee ( YPAC) Report Youth Representative Allison Hewitt was not in attendance. Trey Job, Managing Director of Public Works & Leisure Services, gave a brief update on the Youth Advisory Committee. 2E. Bird City Coalition Presentation was made by Board Member Dorothy Skarnulis. A copy of recent Resolution R- 2019- 38 was provided to Board members. 3. CITIZEN COMMENTS None. 4. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES 4A. Consider action to approve Parks and Public Tree Advisory Board minutes from the April 4, 2019 regular meeting. Board Member Kelly Dawson made the motion to approve the minutes as presented. Seconded by Board Member Barbara Wolanski and approved by a vote of 6- 0. 5. ITEMS FOR INDIVIDUAL CONSIDERATION 5A. Discussion and consider action related to the process and timeline for selecting a new Bastrop Parks and Public Tree Advisory Board youth member. Member Barbara Wolanski made the motion to distribute the revised application for the Bastrop Parks and Public Tree Advisory Board youth member to BISD schools and the home school co- op by May 9, 2019, with a deadline of submission of May 31, 2019 and that an action item for naming a new youth member be placed on the June 6, 2019 meeting. Motion was seconded by Dorothy Skamulis and approved by a 6- 0 vote. Bastrop Parks Board and Public Tree Advisory Board Agenda May 2, 2019 5B. Discussion concerning status of the Bastrop Wheeled Sports Complex. Presentation was made by Managing Director of Public Works and Leisure Services Trey Job. 5C. Discussion concerning multimodal transportation ( pedestrians/sidewalks, bike lanes, etc.) status and possible future plans. Presentation was made by Managing Director of Public Works and Leisure Services Trey Job. Mr. Job stressed the importance of Board Members attending the Code Rodeo to be held on May Stn 6.
