DIVISION STREET COMMISSION CHAMBERS 3RD FLOOR – ROOM 301 BATTLE CREEK MI 49014 Call to Order: 1:00pm Roll Call for Board Members: Stan Chubinski, Kara Werner, John Sims, Robert Whitfield Staff Members Present: Jason Francisco, Code Compliance Manager; Tom Engels, Senior Code Officer; Lisa Silkworth, Secretary Additions/Deletions to the Agenda: Remove 105 Abbington, 117 Sigel, and 85 Redner Approval of Minutes: Ms. Werner made a motion to approve the minutes from the August 16, 2017 meeting seconded by Mr. Sims. Affirmed. Old Business: 1. 145 Oaklawn Ave (House) Issue#EN17-01659 Code Compliance Officer: Tom Engels Property owner, Jeffrey Orr, present. Tom Engels, Senior Code Officer, stated the work was still not complete but the owner had done some scrapping and painting. Mr. Orr noted he was going to side the house but it was in the Historic District and they would not allow it. Mr. Orr has applied for the City’s Paint Program. Mr. Orr requested a thirty-day extension. Mr. Sims made a motion to grant an extension to October 17, 2017, seconded by Mr. Whitfield. Extension granted. All Yes Dangerous Buildings Show Cause Hearings: a. 125 Caine (House) Issue#EN17-06293 Building Inspector: Don Wilkinson Property owner, not present. Don Wilkinson, Building Inspector, stated the property was damaged by fire. Mr. Wilkinson recommended affirming the property as a Housing Board of Appeals September 20, 2017 Page 2 of 3 Dangerous Building. Mr. Whitfield made a motion to affirm the property as a Dangerous Building, seconded by Mr. Sims. Affirmed All Yes b. 36 Chestnut (House) Issue#EN17-06416 Building Inspector: Don Wilkinson Property owner, not present. Don Wilkinson, Building Inspector, stated the property was damaged by fire. Mr. Wilkinson recommended affirming the property as a Dangerous Building. Mr. Sims made a motion to affirm the property as a Dangerous Building, seconded by Mr. Whitfield. Affirmed All Yes c. 46 Summer (House) Issue#EN17-05254 Building Inspector: Don Wilkinson Property owner, not present. Don Wilkinson, Building Inspector, stated the property was damaged by fire.
