MEMBERS PRESENT: Commissioners Judith Mudge and Gary Green MEMBERS ABSENT: Commissioner Tim Martinovich STAFF PRESENT: Victoria Houser, Nancy Mullett, Linda Morrison, Martin Erskine, Derek Malone CALL TO ORDER: President Mudge called the meeting to order at 4:01 PM and recognized that a quorum was present. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. A motion was made by Comm. Green, supported by Comm. Mudge to approve the Civil Service Commission December 22, 2014 meeting minutes. All yes, none opposed. Motion approved. PETITIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS There were no petitions or communications. REPORTS There were none. UNFINISHED BUSINESS There was none. NEW BUSINESS 1. Certify the “2015 Battalion Chief Eligibility List” President Mudge stated the first order of business was to certify the “2015 Battalion Chief Eligibility List.” President Mudge opened the floor for public comment. Seeing no public comment, a motion was made by Comm. Green, supported by Comm. Mudge, to certify the “2015 Battalion Chief Eligibility List.” All yes, none opposed. Motion approved. 2. Certify the three candidates on the “2015 Battalion Chief Eligibility List” President Mudge stated the next order of business was to certify the three candidates on the “2015 Battalion Chief Eligibility List.” President Mudge opened the floor for public comment. Seeing no public comment, a motion was made by Comm. Green, supported by Comm. Mudge, to certify the three candidates on the “2015 Battalion Chief Eligibility List.” All yes, none opposed. Motion approved. 3. Certify the “2015 Fire Captain Eligibility List” President Mudge stated the next order of business was to certify the “2015 Fire Captain Eligibility List.” President Mudge opened the floor for public comment. Seeing no public comment, a motion was made by Comm. Green, supported by Comm. Mudge, to certify the “2015 Fire Captain Eligibility List.” All yes, none opposed. Motion approved. 4. Certify the first three candidates on the “2015 Fire Capital Eligibility List” President Mudge stated the next order of business was to certify the first three candidates on the “2015 Fire Captain Eligibility List.” President Mudge opened the floor for public comment. 1  Seeing no public comment, a motion was made by Comm. Green, supported by Comm. Mudge, to certify the first three candidates on the “2015 Fire Captain Eligibility List.” All yes, none opposed. Motion approved. 5. Certify the first candidate on the “2013 Fire Lieutenant Eligibility List” President Mudge stated the next order of business was to certify the first candidate on the “2013 Fire Lieutenant Eligibility List.” President Mudge opened the floor for public comment. Seeing no public comment, a motion was made by Comm. Green, supported by Comm. Mudge, to certify the first candidate on the “2013 Fire Lieutenant Eligibility List.” All yes, none opposed. Motion approved. 6. Certify candidates 11-15 on the “2014 Entry Level Firefighter Eligibility List” President Mudge stated the next order of business was to certify candidates 11-15 on the “2014 Entry Level Firefighter Eligibility List.” President Mudge opened the floor for public comment. Seeing no public comment, a motion was made by Comm. Green, supported by Comm. Mudge, to certify candidates 11-15 on the “2014 Entry Level Firefighter Eligibility List.” All yes, none opposed. Motion approved. 7. The Removal of Joshua McBride from the “2014 Entry Level Firefighter Eligibility List” President Mudge stated the next order of business was the removal of Joshua McBride from the “2014 Entry Level Firefighter Eligibility List.” President Mudge opened the floor for public comment. President Mudge asked if the candidate would receive notification of the removal recommendation. President Mudge also asked what requirements Mr. McBride failed to meet for employment. Clerk Houser noted he would receive a letter the following day, informing him that if he wished to appeal the removal, he would need to respond within 7 days. Clerk Houser stated an essential job function was to drive fire apparatus, which was an issue as Mr. McBride’s driving status is ineligible per the state. Seeing no public comment, a motion was made by Comm. Green, supported by Comm. Mudge, to remove Joshua McBride from the “2014 Entry Level Firefighter Eligibility List.” All yes, none opposed. Motion approved. 8. Authorize the City Clerk to proceed with the “Fire Lieutenant’s Exam” President Mudge stated the next order of business was to authorize the City Clerk to begin the Fire Lieutenant Testing process. President Mudge opened the floor for public comment. Seeing no public comment, a motion was made by Comm. Green, supported by Comm. Mudge, to authorize the City Clerk to begin the Fire Lieutenant testing process. All yes, none opposed. Motion approved. PUBLIC COMMENTS Martin Erskine, Battalion Chief, thanked Commissioner Green for his service to the Commission. Chief Erskine also thanked the City Clerk for getting the Battalion Chief and Fire Captain Test results out quickly. COMMISSION COMMENTS Comm. Mudge thanked Commissioner Green for his service to the Commission. ADJOURNMENT President Mudge adjourned the meeting at 4:10 PM. 2
