DANGEROUS BUILDINGS HEARING NOTICE AND AGENDA October 8, 2014 1:00 P.M. CITY HALL 10 N. DIVISION STREET COMMISSION CHAMBERS 3RD FLOOR – ROOM 301 BATTLE CREEK MI 49014 1. Call to Order: 1:00pm 2. Roll Call: Carman Hamilton 3. Staff Members Present: Dennis McKinley, Code Compliance Administrator; Don Wilkinson, Building Inspector; Lisa Silkworth, Secretary 4. Additions/Deletions to the Agenda: Remove 248 Capital Ave NE 5. Approval of Minutes: Mr. Hamilton approved the minutes from the September 10, 2014 meeting. 6. New Business: a. 27 Hazel Issue#EN14-24713 Building Inspector: Don Wilkinson Property owner, not present. Don Wilkinson, Building Inspector, reported the house was damaged by fire with a cost estimate of repair of $ $33,740 and an SEV of $14,179. Mr. Wilkinson recommended affirming it as a dangerous building. Mr. Hamilton affirmed it as a dangerous building and granted thirty days to bring it into compliance. b. 68 N McKinley Issue#EN14-24718 Building Inspector: Don Wilkinson Property owner, Chad Lyons, present. Don Wilkinson, Building Inspector, stated the house was damaged by fire and the cost estimate of repair is $47,670 and the SEV is $20,155. Mr. Dangerous Buildings Hearing July 9, 2014 Page 2 of 2 Lyons stated they have an estimate to make the proper repairs and intend to make repairs and bring the house back up to code. Mr. Lyons stated the house is rental property. Mr. Wilkinson recommended granting ninety days to bring it into compliance. Mr. Hamilton affirmed the property as a dangerous building and granted ninety days to bring it into compliance. 7. Public Comments: none 8. Board and Staff Members Comments: Mr. McKinley made a note of an upcoming training session. 9.
