City of Battle Creek Election Commission Meeting 10 N. Division Street – Room 302B Battle Creek, MI October 15, 2014 8:30 AM Present: Jill Steele, Steve Hudson and Vicki Houser Absent: None Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 8:30 A.M. Approval of Minutes: City Clerk Houser noted the first order of business was the approval of the July 24, 2014 meeting minutes. A motion was made by Steve Hudson, supported by Jill Steele, to approve the July 24, 2014 Election Commission meeting minutes. All yes, none opposed. Motion carried. MOVE Act Update: Clerk Houser informed the Committee that the Clerk’s office had received 8 FPCA for MOVE ballots, with only one ballot returned. Appointment of Election Inspectors for November 4, 2014: Clerk Houser informed the Commission that her office was looking for additional persons to serve as Election Inspectors, stating she also attended a meeting at Lakeview High School with the National Honor Society, stating several students had expressed interest in serving as Election Inspectors. Clerk Houser provided a list of election inspectors, informing the Commission that the Clerk’s Office would require 141 Election Inspectors for the November 4, 2014 General Election, to include Precinct Chairpersons, Computer Operators and Inspectors, with additional persons to serve on the Receiving Board, to include 2 Receiving Board members, and 11 City staff members. A motion was made by Steve Hudson, supported by Jill Steele, to approve the hiring of 141 Election Inspectors and 2 Receiving Board members, with the addition of City staff, for the November 4, 2014 General Election. All yes, none opposed. Motion approved. Public Accuracy Test: Clerk Houser noted the November 4, 2014 General Election Public Accuracy Test would be held Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at 9:00 am in Room 112, the City Clerk’s Office. Ms. Houser noted the Public Accuracy Test will be noticed in the October 23, 2014 Battle Creek Shopper in conjunction with other local Clerk’s testing. Public Comments: There were no public comments.
