10:00 AM
Present: Jill Steele, Steve Hudson and Vicki Houser
Absent: None
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 10:03 A.M.
Approval of Minutes:
Clerk Houser noted the first order of business was the approval of the February 16, 2016 meeting minutes. A motion
was made by Assessor Hudson, supported by Attorney Steele, to approve the February 16, 2016 Election Commission
meeting minutes. All yes, none opposed. Motion carried.
Relocation of Polling Location:
Clerk Houser informed the Commission that, in addition to the recent polling relocations approved at prior meetings,
Precincts 2 & 3, currently located at Lakeview’s Territorial School, would be relocated to Battle Creek First
Assembly of God, located at 800 S. 24th Street. Clerk Houser noted this was the same location as Precincts 22 & 23,
stating the gym was larger than the prior two polling locations and would be able to accommodate all 4 precincts.
Clerk Houser noted new voter ID cards were sent to all registered voters in Precincts 2 & 3, stating they should be
received by voters by April 2nd.
A motion was made by Attorney Steele, supported by Assessor Hudson, to approve the relocation of Precincts 2 & 3
to Battle Creek First Assembly of God, located at 800 S. 24th Street. All yes, none opposed. Motion approved.
Appointment of Election Inspectors to the May 3, 2016 Election
Clerk Houser noted the Calhoun County Election Commission approved the consolidation of all precincts that were in
joint polling locations, resulting in combined precincts 2/3, 5/20, 6/9, and 11/14, while precinct 8 would remain as a
single precinct.
Clerk Houser presented the list of election inspectors, by precinct, for the May 3, 2016 Special Election for two
Lakeview School District bond proposals. Clerk Houser noted all precincts have one Republican and one Democrat.
Clerk Houser also noted several of the precincts had two Co-Chairperson and/or EPB Computer Operators, noting that
this provided more efficiency with the consolidation of busy precincts. Clerk Houser also noted City Clerk and Code
Administrative Staff would serve as Receiving Board Inspectors, along with one outside Receiving Board Inspector.
A motion was made by Assessor Hudson, supported by Attorney Steele, to approve the precinct inspectors as
presented. All yes, none opposed. Motion approved.
