Battle Creek City Election Commission 10 N. Division – Room 112 Battle Creek, Michigan Wednesday, September 6, 2017 10:30 A.M. Present: Steve Hudson, City Assessor; Jill Steele, City Attorney and Alicia Sackett, Deputy City Clerk Absent: Vicki Houser, City Clerk Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 10:30 A.M. Approval of Minutes: Deputy Clerk Sackett noted the first order of business was the approval of the August 15, 2017 meeting minutes. A motion was made by Steve Hudson, supported by Jill Steele, to approve the August 15, 2017 Election Commission meeting minutes. All yes, none opposed. Motion carried. Review and Approval of the November 7, 2017 ballot Deputy Clerk Sackett provided the proof ballots, via email, to the Election Commission members. Deputy Clerk Sackett noted that all candidates have been provided the proof ballots for review and we have heard back from all but one with no corrections requested. Jill Steele asked why precincts 2/3 A and 2/3 B had no rotation in the at-large candidates. Deputy Clerk Sackett stated it was due to the number of precincts and candidates and did not require a rotation. Ms. Steele asked which candidate did not respond. Deputy Clerk Sackett stated Shane Farlin was the only candidate that did not respond. Deputy Clerk asked the Commission if they would like to motion to accept the ballots as presented. Hearing no objections, a motion was made by Jill Steele, supported by Steve Hudson, to approve the ballot proofs for the November 7, 2017 City Election. All yes, none opposed. Motion approved. Public Comments: There were no public comments. Commission Comments: There were no public comments. Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 10:39 AM.
