POST/FRANKLIN NEIGHBORHOOD PLANNING COUNCIL
Thursday, May 7, 2015
7:00 PM
The Chair Diana Quigg called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. at CAA Boardroom
Attendance:
Members Present: Cindy Fritz, Pat Shellenberger, Yvonne Powell, John Cash, ,Linda Carrmona,
Diana Quigg and James Moreno.
Members Excused: Deborah Perkins and Katie Hubbard.
Guests and Visitors: William Hazel, Dennis McKinley - Code Compliance, Officer M. Tillman and
Sgt. Todd Madsen - BCPD, Kara Werner - Habitat for Humanity, Troy Conine and Dan Meza and
Darren Campbell City of BC- Engineering..
Additions and Deletions to the Agenda: None.
Approval of Minutes: Motion was made by Cindy Fritz and seconded by Jim Moreno that April
minutes be approved. Motion carried.
Correspondence and Announcements: It was announced there would be a meeting for the Historic
District Commission meeting on May 11, 2015 at 4:00p.m, an Anonymous Letter and that the Zoning
Board of Appeals would be having a meeting on May 26, 2015.
COMMITTEE AND STAFF REPORTS:
The following Code and Police issues were reported.
Police: Sgt. Todd Madsen passed out the police reports. Introduced Officer M. Tillman as our new
NPC officer. Crime Prevention Specialists - 8 officers throughout city; want to meet with all in the
area.
120 Academy St. - .sex offense - warrant submitted to prosecutor
Corner of Caine and Post - car(silver) running stop sign between 9:15a and 9:30p.m.
341 Main - parking in driveway late at night
Echo St - wrong way parking on the street
Code: Dennis McKinley handed out the code report.
33 Walnut - house burnt; garbage in front yard
127 Post - huge hole in porch
51 E. Kingman - vacant houses Troy Conine and Dan Meza mowing the yards
102-104 High St - junk accumulation
55 E. Kingman - vacant; paint peeling
Planning: None
Beautiful Battle Creek Award: There were no nominations this month.
If you see a property that you feel deserves a BBC Award you may nominate that property, all that is
required is the address. The council will then vote and the address is submitted to City Neighborhood
Planning Office who will then proceed with the issuing of the Award. Note – once we submit the
addresses the City takes control of the process and we have no say when an address will be awarded.
If any member should have a question regarding an address that was submitted they need only
ask and the inquiry will be made to the City and the outcome will be documented in the minutes.
The update below is provided so that all have a record of what has been processed and what is
pending.
Membership: Diana recognized guests. Eloise Fogg submitted her resignation from the board due to
health issues. Jim made motion to remove Eloise from board. Seconded by Yvonne. Motion carried
COMMISSIONER COMMENTS: None .
Battle Creek Public Schools: None
OLD BUSINESS: None
NEW BUSINESS: . Kara Warner - Habitat for Humanity gave a presentation on the Homeownership,
Home Repair programs and the Wheelchair Ramp Program. Darren Kampbell - B.C. City Engineering.
There was a motion by Jim to cancel the June Meeting since there was no new business to conduct.
Cindy seconded. Motion carried. Also a motion to hold August picnic on Wed. August 5, 2015 at the
Doris Hale Center from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. ***Please bring dish to pass*** Cindy made motion and
Yvonne seconded. Motion carried.
