WESTALKE/PRAIRIEVIEW NEIGHBORHOOD PLANNING COUNCIL #10 Meeting Minutes October 22, 2018 Call to Order & Welcome Chair, Jeff Koteles called the meeting to order at 7:00pm Attendance: Members: Chairman: Jeff Koteles, Vice Chair Dave Weaver, Tom Rose, Diana Cole, Joyce Garrett, Donna Kowalski, Ollie Griffin, Karol Henegan, Mary Jane Cipcic, Donna Jaeger Guests: Commissioner John Griffin, William Davenport City staff: BC Officer Pardreg, Todd Everson, Daniel Richardson, Duska Brumm, Richard Boleck Chair Notes/Correspondence/Announcements: Jeff noted that the D.A.V.post 153 will be holding a dart tournament Nov.11 in Springfield, Jeff also received a letter from the city about possible speed bumps on s. 24th street- asked Commissioner Griffin to follow up on it. Jeff also thanked Commissioner Griffin for being in attendance as he is the only commissioner who regularly attends the meeting. Additions/Deletions to the Agenda: William Davenport to new business, on speeding complaint Minutes: approved September minutes as moved by Dave Weaver and seconded by Tom Rose, unanimously approved Police Report: Officer Pardreg answered questions, Mary Jane Cipcic noted the upcoming trunk or treat on Halloween and a stuff the truck event on November 30th- contact officer Rabbit with questions on the stuff the truck event Public service announcements from commissioners: Commissioner Griffin said the city had ok’d buying a new bus, also handed out maps on medical marijuana possible locations. Committee Reports: Membership: none Beautiful Battle Creek award: none Woodland Park: Joyce stated that more groups are using the park, the fire dept held a two day training event in the park on possible park calls, beavers continue to be a problem, a 5th eagle scout completed a project and donated leftover funds to the park. City Staff Report: Richard Bolek city building official handed out code reports. Old Business: none New Business: resident William Davenport brought signed petitions and presented them to city staff asking that speed bumps be installed on south 24th to slow traffic after his dog was hit and killed . Special Presentation: Duska Brumm of B.C. parks and recreation presented a survey for filling out as they are working on the parks master plan to present to the city commission in December/January. Todd Everson of the city staff noted that the city was preparing for snow removal, and that salt prices are up 25 percent over last year.
