North Central Neighborhood Planning Council #2 Meeting Minutes ~ February 14, 2012 ~ Neighborhoods, Inc. 1. Call to Order & Welcome: Meeting was called to order at 7 p.m. by Samuel Gray, chair. 2. Attendance-Members present: A.J. Jones-FHC, Lynn Ward Gray, Samuel Gray, Kitty Hillian, Keith McDonald, Bill Phillips-NIBC, and Dorothy Young Excused Absence: Jeffrey Dinkins, Steve Lee, and Sheryl McDonald Members Absent: Betty Settles City Staff: Officer Chad Francisco, Eric Morris Guests: Gail Canales, John Hennick, NPC #4 Vice Chair, Jim Marshall and David Young. 3. Approval of Previous Minutes and Agenda: A quorum wasn’t present at the start of the meeting. A quorum was achieved later in the meeting but no motion was made. Postpone until March 13, 2012 meeting. 3. Approval of Previous Minutes and Agenda: • L. Gray announced: 1) FAFSA workshops were taking place this month, a flyer was provided to membership, 2) A 2012 NPC2 meeting schedule has been provided so please put all dates on your calendar for the year and set your own reminders to be in attendance each meeting, additional copies were handed out to those present and 3) NANBPW is hosting a fundraiser for their scholarship program, the Men’s Cookery, Saturday, February 25 at 3 p.m. at New Level Sports, please consider buying a $5 ticket to support or offer a donation. • S. Gray asked members to consider attending the next community crime watch meeting on 4th Thursday’s at 6 p.m. at 104 Calhoun St., he also reported out some of the activities of this group. • B. Phillips/NIBC invited us to an upcoming March 5 NPC Community Open House and Dialog at 7 p.m. at Burnham Brook Community Center, once plans finalized, he’d email info to NPC’s and send out press releases to media. 4. Time Sensitive City Staff/BCPS/City Commission/Committee Report Updates: No reports were given, however, Eric Morris, code compliance officer in NPC2 supplied police report and code report for members. Focus of the meeting was to begin to outline a strategy to reach the 2012 goals set by NPC2 membership. 5. NPC2 2012 Goals Next Steps: Jim Marshall, facilitator • See attached: 021412 NPC 2 Meeting – Brainstormed Strategy Ideas for 2012 Goals 6. Public Comments/Member Comments: • David Young made comments about areas/issues he is passionate about helping make better in NPC2, pointed out that was his reason for attending NPC2 meetings. 7.
