Kist, Cari L. Briggs, Tim Marske Absent Unexcused: Tim Conlogue, Angel Flores, and Trudy Hall City Staff: Darren Campbell (engineering), Stephen Herbstreith (BCPD), Kelly Dillman (BCPD), James Belmore (code), Commissioners John Griffin, Sherry Sofia, Chris Simmons Guests: Speaker Sharlee Coffman-Cook (Fair Housing), Dianne Hartley (BCPS), Mary Lou Ramon Addition or Deletion to Agenda: Mary Lou Ramon brings the City of Battle Creek’s Cross Connection Control Program to help eliminate Possible contamination of the public water Distribution system on outside water faucets. She Gave handouts. It was said that this was passed by Commission last April 2017. Perry Hart told Mary Lou Commercial & rentals will be done first; then Residential. Commissioners Simmons & Sofia were Asked to look into this and bring it to the May Meeting. Approval of the March 8, 2018 Minutes: Motion by Cari L. Briggs 2nd Robert J. Kist To approve the minutes. Motion carried City Staff Reports: Police Department: Officer Herbstreith handed out reports. Kelly Dillman Discussed upcoming Byrne Grant Projects-continuing resident Communication; as this is a partnership with police-not driven by them. Areas residents are concerned with; not the PD tell us. Code Department: Code Officer James Belmore handed out reports. Commissioner Report: Commissioner Simmons gave overview of 2018 Road Projects approved, increase to downtown parking not approved; and, the Urban Farm Animal New draft Ordinance at April 17th Commission Meeting. Schools: Dianne Hartley (BCPS) talked of the Millage Renewal. None from Lakeview Schools. Membership (new/deletions): None Beautiful Battle Creek Awards: R-353 Surby B-890 W. Columbia Ave. Business Report: None Place Making Committee: None Old Business to be finalized: None New Business: none New Business for future Meetings: None Speaker: Sharlee Coffman-Cook of the Fair Housing Center of Southwest Michigan that covers 9 Counties; and, passed in 1968 covered the info In the hand out she gave us. It is their 50th Anniversary. A Conference Celebrating this will be held May 4, 2018th at the Fetzer Center, WMU’s Campus. Public/Guest Comments: Darren Campbell (engineering) handed out a map of 2018 Road Treatments. Discussion of the quality of last road Projects was brought up and if the same company will be Used this year. Better quality control is needed to be sure The work is done properly before payment given. Was Suggested; as some comments made said final sealer not Applied to edges of road and some were over sprayed. Member Comments: Gloria mentioned that the train tracks at Elm St & Capital Would be closed to be fixed. That on May 7th construction will Begin from the Y Center to M66 Bowl to turn road into 2 lanes, A turn lane and bike lanes added. That the City is offering Rain barrels again to residents at the DPW. Talked of BCat Road Reports.
