Central Neighborhood Planning Council – NPC3 Michigan Tile & Carpet Community Room 101 E. Columbia Ave., Battle Creek, MI Minutes of June 14, 2018 Call to Order/Time Convened: 7:05 p.m. Attendance: Members: Cynde Foster, Trudy Hall, Tim Marske, Cari L. Briggs, Robert J. Kist, Jerry Dill, Penny Dill, Gloria Mansfield, Joel E. Fulton City Staff: James Belmore (code), Stephen Herbstreith (BCPD), Commissioner Lynn Ward Gray Addition or Deletions to the Agenda: None Approval of the Minutes: Motion by Jerry Dill, 2nd Robert J. Kist to approve the May 10, 2018 minutes. Motion Carried City Staff Reports: Police Department: Reports passed out Code: Reports passed out. Address on Lakeview Ave. given to have checked out As people are going over to party at empty house. Property surveys are Being done. Trash and tall grass are big problems. Committee Reports: Commissioner Report: Water problem talked about, Agendas for Tuesdays City Commission Meeting is online. Told us about “Keeping You Informed” Programs on Access Vision Ch. 17 (Wed. 6:30p.m.). Schools (BCPS & Lakeview): None Membership (new/deletions): None Beautiful Battle Creek Award: None Business Report: Mentioned that CVS has broken ground Place Making Committee: No activity; it has been replaced with Byrne Grant Program. Old Business to be finalized: Joel brought the letter addressing the speeding Problem on Beckman St. brought to the Council by John Compton and all members Signed. This is a new policy by the City/Traffic Engineering Dept. presented at A NPC Leadership Meeting. Jerry Dill took the letter to deliver to the City Manager. John has been in talks with the City Manager & Traffic Dept. over this. It was mentioned that Jim Nelson was inducted into the Lakeview Hall of Fame. New Business: The Byrne Grant Project was discussed. We have taken up a “Trash Pickup”, food and prizes. On June 25th we will fill out application for a Grant to fund project. The date chosen for this is September 29, 2018. Other Details will be given at a later date. New Business for future Meetings: None Speaker: Leah Dodd from Willard Library. Gave an informative talk and handed out Some promotional items (ball caps & pens). Public/Guest Comments: None Member Comments: Members were reminded that there is no Meeting in July.
