Minutes of the June 12, 2018 Meeting
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 7: 10 pm by George Wytko.
Members Present: Kingery Clingenpeel, Laura Clingenpeel, Jessica Gilbert (Humane Society), Bob Harland, Shevy
Rocho, (Humane Society), Cindy Snyder, Robert Snyder, Shelby Winslow, George Wytko, Sally Wytko,
City Officials Present: Commissioner Susan Baldwin, Eric Campbell, Engineer, and Chris Zuzga, City of Battle Creek,
Guests Present: Tiffany Lokcynski
Approval of the Minutes:
The minutes for April 10, 2018 were approved as read. Motion by S. Winslow/L. Clingenpeel. Carried.
Presentation:
Eric Campbell, City Engineer, reported on the progress of current road treatments for our NPC. He also informed us of
work in other Battle Creek areas including, water main projects, traffic studies, and work slated for Fort Custer.
City Commission Report:
Susan Baldwin discussed Medical Marijuana applications, The Downtown Development Fund for Small Businesses, the
status of the Heritage Tower, and the preliminary report from the Blue Ribbon Advisory Committee.
City Staff Updates:
The Code Compliance Report for 4/10/2018 -6/11/2018 was distributed. Chris discussed the medical marijuana provision
center application approval process and she addressed urban livestock applications. A question was asked about the
city’s role in curbing the deer population.
Old Business:
Sally Wytko reported on the recent NPC leadership meeting.
Jessica Gilbert discussed the benefits of having a Facebook page for our NPC. Motion was made by K. Clingenpeel/S.
Winslow to have Jessica set up a Facebook page for NPC 9. Motion carried.
New Business:
Kingery Clingenpeel discussed the North Country National Scenic Trail additions which will connect Battle Creek to
other trails in the national trail system.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m. Motion by S. Winslow/Bob Harland
Next meeting: Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 7:00 pm at St. Peter Lutheran Church
