1. Call to Order & Welcome: Chairman Whitfield called the meeting to order and welcomed
everyone present at 7:02 p.m.
2. Attendance
Members Present: Brian Steele, Kathy Antaya, Chairman Robert Whitfield, David Moore, Roger
Ballard, Fred Bachman, Sara Schmanske, Freeman Thomas, Patricia Graw, Beverly Case,
Terry Lancaster, Walt McIlroy, Commissioner Deborah Owens, Johnny Vick, Gloria Zanotti,
Curtis Roberts, Hal Longman
Guests Present: Mary Lou Ramone, John Griffin, Kristin Blood, Lester Johnson, Kaytee Faris,
Mark Behnke, Sherry Sophia, Susan Baldwin, Bernadette Llewellyn,
City Staff Present: Officer Ryan Thayen, Dennis McKinley
Excused: Wayne Hoard, Nancy Hoard
3. Announcements: Chairman Whitfield welcomed the candidates and explained the rules by
which we will have a decorum. It was announced that our meeting would be abbreviated due to
the commission candidates discussion.
4. Additions or Deletions to the Agenda: None to report
5. Approval of Previous Minutes: The previous two months of minutes were approved.
6. Police Report: The police report was distributed.
7. Guest Speaker: The city commission candidates were present for a discussion and to
answer community questions. They answered a variety of questions including about what they
bring to the commission, the value of diversity, economic need and development, the possibility
of a dog park, anti-bullying training, the art of compromise, tax cuts, etc.
8. Committee Reports:
Code Report: The code report was distributed.
Beautification: 73 Avery Avenue
9. Old Business: None to report
10. New Business: None to report
11. Nominating Committee: N/A
12. Public Service Comments from Commissioners: Commissioner Owens distributed a
written report to save time.
13. Comments for the Good of the Order:
Public Comments: N/A
Member Comments: We took part of our NPC’s Adopt-A-Highway program and it was very
successful.
14. Next Meeting: November 13, 2017
15. Adjournment: Meeting adjourned at 8:34 p.m.
