Minutes of the October 10, 2017 Meeting
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 7: 00 pm by George Wytko.
Members Present: Laura Clingenpeel, Robert Harland, Linda Morris, Robert Snyder, Shelby Winslow, George Wytko,
Sally Wytko, Harry Zimmerman
Members Excused: Kingery Clingenpeel, Robert Snyder, Rex Winslow
City Officials Present: Officer Tom Burke, BCPD; Chris Zuzga, Planning Supervisor; Eric Feldt, Planning Dept.
City Commission and Candidates Present: Susan Baldwin, Kaytee Faris, Lester Johnson, Sherry Sofia
Citizens Present: John Kenefick
Approval of the Minutes:
The minutes September 12, 2017 were approved as printed. Motions by L. Morris/S. Winslow
City Staff Updates:
Officer Burke distributed the Foot Patrol/Traffic Stops, and the Part 1 Crimes reports for the month of
September in the Rural Southwest. Members thanked the BCPD for locating a speed cart on Beckley Rd. and
for placing two officers on patrol in our area
Chris Zuzga distributed a Code Compliance report for 5/9/17 to 10/9/17. Questions were asked about the use of
property at Lois Drive and Beckley Rd. The NPC requested the city to notify us of property use changes even
if it does comply to code.
Guest Comments:
Candidates for Commissioner-at-Large, Susan Baldwin, Kaytee Faris, Lester Johnson, and Shelly Sofia introduced
themselves. Candidates answered questions regarding business growth, the mall, Kellogg’s and the trees which have
been removed along the NW corner of Beckley and M66. Chris Z. will follow up on the tree issue.
John Kenefick distributed information and briefly discussed his views on “Three Priorities of a City Commissioner”,” The
Citizens and Taxpayers Are Overtaxed”, and “How to Challenge a Commissioner”.
Presentations:
Eric Feldt and Chris Z. distributed the first draft of the new Land Use Plan and the Chapter 4 Goals and Objectives. He
asked for input and also requested that we email him regarding any issues related to both documents. He announced a
workshop/open house on Nov. 1st open to the public to share this information. Eric and Chris Zuzga fielded questions
and comments regarding drain assessments, future development, and zoning for the old schoolhouse on the corner of
Beckley and Helmer.
Old Business - Committee Report:
Motion was made and carried (L. Morris/B. Snyder) to accept nominations for 2018 NPC #9 officers: George Wytko –
Chairman, Laura Clingenpeel –Vice Chairman, Sally Wytko – Secretary.
New Business:
None
The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m. Motions by B. Snyder/L. Clingenpeel
Next meeting: Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 7:00 pm at St. Peter Lutheran Church
